Do you 'hook' people on Buffy?

^ Haha, same. I told my friend that someone in the main cast becomes gay, and she's convinced it's Buffy. 😛

I ended up getting my mum to watch it, then one evening me and my mum were sitting watching it together when my brother came into the livingroom and sat for a few minute watching it and then he decided to watch them all and loved them 😀

Actually I was the one hooked by a mate. He watched the show religiously, though if memory serves it was broadcast on tuesdays on bbc 2 which was my training nights so never got into it. then 3 years ago I busted my knee and was off work for 6 weeks. I borrowed the boxset and was hooked. I think I've watched it (all 7 seasons) 6 times after having bought my own. Then the Angel boxset. I started buying the season 8 comics, the omnibuses, Fray, and the reading books. the artwork is brilliant and had hoped to teach myself how to draw like that.
I've tried to get people to watch it but no luck. Their loss I guess....

I just let my friend watch the Buffy movie and all she could do was laugh throughout the entire thing.

I have tried again and again without avail. 🙁
The stigma attached to buffy in unbelieveable..

Yeah....what's the problem? People have such prejudgments about Buffy and they've never even seen it. Why is that? One guy that I told I loved Buffy just scowled and said he'd NEVER watch it! And he'd never even seen it!!! I don't get it.:bite-cha:

Don't actively tries to hook people on Buffy.

I can mention that I watch and like the show, but I usually do my best to avoid going on and on about how great it is.
That will often just make people having to high expectations. Which isn't always all that great when watching the first episode.
Or they get fed up with the show (and me) and will never watch it...

/SK

Well, I got my mom completely hooked, she's almost worse than me. Which makes it fun to have Buffy or Angel marathons with her, lol, she's totally up for it. My dad, not so much, but he likes it well enough (I also want to add, that he got so ticked off about me and my mom going on and on about Spike (and later, for my mom that is, Angel) that he now hates vampires and won't stop cracking jokes about their dead bodies, so uh, yeah, but he likes the shows). I'm still working on one of my aunt's, I did turn her into a Spike obsessed maniac though, makes it a little weird (she's my aunt!)...lol. One of my cousins doesn't mind the show, as in, he watched to episodes, which for him is pretty good. I starting slow work on two of my friends, trying to be gentle, and ease them into it before the final push, hehe. Also, I did get a ton of my family to submit to a Buffy marathon day on my birthday (around 9 episodes or so, lol) and they all pretty much enjoyed it, even my grandmother. Oh and yeah, I'm obsessed.

I finally thought of a person I hooked on Buffy! My ex boyfriend. His best friend and I had discovered our mutual Buffy love aaaages ago. I half expect him to show up on here one day actually! Anyhoo... My ex had always teased us both about liking buffy and bagged the show. One day I convinced him to sit down and watch the body with me and he was hooked! We ended up watching a couple more season 5 episodes together and then we borrowed season 1 from his mate and watched the entire series in the space of about 2 months. It was awesome!

I don't... 🙁 I got one girl to borrow my seasons, but she had already planned on watching them anyways, just didn't know how...

I got my family in to Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible, and every Joss Whedon event that is going to be released in the future! lol

And actually, I've gotten quite a few people to watch Dr. Horrible and love it. 🙂

I got my (perhaps maybe too young for it yet...) 12 year old sister hooked on the show. And her other friend, as well. Right now they're borrowing season 7, I believe they're on disc 1 tonight. I was surprised actually... I never pushed my sister to watch it, but she was well aware that I am an obsessive Buffy fan.

Most of the girls in their class (including them, at least before they started watching Buffy) were Twilighters, and I think my sister must have thought "hey, vampires = cool... hmm, my brother has all the Buffy DVDs...." and decided to watch it. Plus, her buddy Maggie had seen the movie on cable. I don't know. It's cool though--I made sure they called me when they got to OMWF and we watched it together (their favorite part is Anya's "must be bunnies" bit). They've both told much "better" Buffy is than Twilight, which makes me smile a bit.

I hate the fact that Buffy has so many negative connotations attached to it. About a year and a half ago, I had a falling out with my best friend--his girlfriend, let's call her Faith, set me up with a friend, say Anya, then Faith decided she hated that I was spending more time with this Anya; then Faith basically caused me to have to find new friends--anyway...

After the badness of that situation, Faith starting calling me at random every once in a while. Around this time is when I first started watching Buffy (very cathartic, very happy-making). My friend who I'm calling Faith--when I mentioned that I'd been watching Buffy a lot lately--laughed.

I believer her exact response was an ashamed "no!", as if she pitied that I watched the show. Ugh, I was mad!!!!!!!

Besides that, I keep the show to myself because it's very personal for me. At least, I don't really go out of my way to try to get people into watching it. However, I do tend to gravitate towards people who I know are into Buffy.

nah i don't get people hooked. most people i know have already watched it.

my best friend and i used to watch it when we were like 10, and my friend sammy ,who had moved to my class when i was 11/12, she was a big fan of buffy, thn we became friends instantly!

it's actually quite funny because we used to see who coyuld get the most buffy merchandise, it was like a competition , who would have the most stuff! LOL
how sad? :LLLL

i think i won though, becuase of my mums ebay account ;p
i don't know how the hell i afforded it at the time! i spent so much money on the stuff.
at the time, the seasons of buffy ( the bible book ones) ha.
they were like #70 each.!!

it's weird because i used to be obssesed when i was younger, but now it's like ,everything i have of buffy is packed away, and i've binned loads of posters and stuff ;'!

lol

I kind of feel that way, but kind of not. I guess I go back and forth. I don't talk to many people about Buffy outside of a few of my professors, but I wear T Shirts and have my comics laying around just about all the time.

Re:

I've gotten some friends and family to watch the show. Every one of them enjoyed it for one reason or another. I have a friend who is currently borrowing seasons 3 and 4 of BTVS and loving it immensely. She's dishin' on Spike. LOL..*kicks feet up* And so my job is done! 😉
