Do you keep your receipts?

Ok, so this probably seems like a strange question, but I assure you, it does have a point, and here it is ---> . <---

Ok, that's not really the point, this is...Well, as those of you who have read my bio may already know, I'm a cashier, but I also deal with customer service, as I work in the electronics department of a big retail store, which shall remain nameless for now. ( HINT! HINT! HINT! ::wave:: )

Anyway, I hear some very strange things at work sometimes from my customers. In fact, I should write a book. So, I have to give the ok for electronic merchandise to be returned. Well, I get this customer today, who brings in a printer and wants me to ok the return. I look at the printer and it looks like she's had it for awhile and it's most likely past the 90 day warranty. I check the date on the shipping label and it's dated over 4 months ago. I ask her for her receipt and I kid you not, this was her exact answer (notice the quotes --->) "you know black folks don't keep thier receipts." I could not believe 😱 she actually said that to me. It was one of the most hillarious things I've ever heard. ::rolf:: It took everything I had not to laugh at her. I managed to remain cool and let her know I didn't know that and that there was nothing I could do for her without the receipt because of the date on the box...blah blah blah...

So, later I'm sitting in the break room and I tell a few people about this funny story, and I start to wonder... Is that true? ::dk:: Do people with certain ethnic backgrounds not keep their receipts? ::eyes:: Is this actually possible? Could it really be true or is just people with no clue, who don't know how to follow instructions? I mean, when someone says, keep your receipt or you cannot return this valuable piece of equiptment, the logical thing to do, is keep your receipt (at least that's what I think). What's your opinion?

caucasian and I keep all my reciepts but I dont think keeping reciepts has anything at all to do with skin color but more to do with the type of person you are.
 
I keep them until I know I won't be returning them....(also, I'm only 16, can't use them for a tax write off....yet)
 
I got my brand new Samsung £350 V200 mobile stolen in July and yes, thank god I kept my receipts as the insurance company have paid up. 🙂
 
i keep my recepts for expensive stuff and things that might not be ne good like presents etc. I too work in a BIG store on customer service and it's amazing what people try to refund!!

That is a excellent Dark Soul. So many people don't realize how important receipts can be when it comes to insurance. They will replace almost anything if you have a receipt for it. That's what insurance is for. After all, we pay enough for it, might as well get something back. 😀

And yes, You're right Dr. Morgus, keeping receipts does have to do with what kind of person you are. That's why I was so shocked the lady actually told me it was because of the color of her skin. Personally, I think it's either because you are very organized or you're a hopeless pack rat like me, who can't stand to get rid of anything, because she's afraid she might need it later. :: wacko :

LOL....before I got my current job, I was working in retail for 5 years...and you really do hear it all! For instance, I've heard that shiz before as well-it's all a load of crap.

Anyways, i do keep my reciepts...but I'm white, so that might be standard 😉 LOL. Just kidding 😀

It has nothing to do with skin color...it's all about who you are...

Yeah they did in the States, but ASDA still continues to sell stuff like FHM. However, i did remove them from the shelf the other day becuase they were in the kiddies ailse! i think someone was takin the p**s!
 
Yes, they did actually stop selling Maxim. They also do not sell any un-edited music either. There truely are LOTS of reasons to dislike Wal-Mart. I can think of at least a Million of them. On the other hand, there are lots of good reasons to shop there too. For people with limited incomes, it's a relief to be able to find clothes for their family that won't cost an arm and a leg. But the truth is, if I could find another job at this time, I'd be out of there in a heart beat. For now though, I have a child to support.
