Do You Like 3D?

Yawn. I'm bored with 3D already. Plus every time I watch a 3D movie I get flashbacks to junior year of high school (when, in fact, I got 3 d's.....it wasn't so great even back then).

Maybe Hollywood should worry less about new (or, in this case, old) toys and worry about.....you know.....coming up with good, entertaining movies, which is apparently too difficult for them to do more often than not. I think something like one in every ten movies I see anymore is worth my time. That is not an encouraging ratio.

Another thing that I dislike about 3D, purely personal, of course, is that, since I wear glasses already, stacking a second pair is very uncomfortable. Part of that, I'm sure, is due to the fact that my nose has been broken a few times, but for whatever reason, the 2nd pair just refuse to set properly.

Yeah, I think that 3D glasses are just kind of awkward by nature. 🙂 They're never very comfortable.

And you broke your nose several times? Ouch! That sounds painful. (sw) And, adding that to the fact that your family calls you "Rip" (or something like that lol), that sounds... Interesting. 😛

Yeah, being called Rip is kinda like the boy named Sue, but that really hasn't got anything to do with my broken nose. Or not a whole lot, anyway.
Yeah, we need to get rid of the glasses before 3D can be really great.

Have only seen one movie in 3D (Avatar) and it was pretty cool, I liked it.
But 3D will of course never be able to save a bad movie and I think a good movie will most likely still be good in old fashioned 2D.

I like 3D, I think it's working best with Animated films like Up was awesome.

I don't like when it's used pointlessly, like in Alice in Wonderland, there wasn't a need for it, but it was amazing in Avatar, where nothing was flung at you, it was actually just used to create depth in the movie and invest you in their world.

On the other hand I really liked My Bloody Valentine 3D, where they were constantly throwing stuff at your face, but it was just kinda fun, lol.

I will say that the modern 3D movies don't have the gimmicks in them that the original ones did. No dead body seemingly falling out of the screen and onto the audience or objects thrown straight into the camera. The 3D effects in "Avatar" added depth to the video, enhancing it appreciably. Not that there's anything wrong with the 2D versions on the net and on DVD, of course. If they could just figure out a way to eliminate those d**n glasses now...
 
I like 3D but I don't think it works as well on live action films than it does with CGI flims like Shrek and Toy Story 3. Thats where 3D works best and makes a good film a great film. I found it hard to get used to 3D when watching Avatar especially with those glasses, its not something I raved about. To me it wouldn't matter if I saw a film like that in 2D or 3D. Just like now we have 3D TV's coming out.
 
It is okay saw The final destination in it. I might like it more if it didn't cost more lol 😉
 
I saw Toy Story 3 in 3D yesterday and my advice is save your money - there is no need for the movie to be in 3D and there a no moments when you go "Wow" because of a 3D effect. The movie is great but it would be equally good without 3D. I hate those glasses too.

I completely agree. I usually end up having to put them over my glasses too and spend most of the film messing with the 3D glasses, trying to get them to stay stacked. It doubles the strain on my eyeballs.
 
I love 3D, but only in animated films/films where there's a lot of flying around etc so that you actually get more depth to it and feel more involved with it.

It was pointless in Alice, like everyone else has said.
 
No! I really, really hate 3D, and I don't know why so many movies insist on being that way. It takes me awhile to adjust, and then my eyes always feel slightly.... weird. It's just frustrating. I ALWAYS prefer to see a regular movie than a 3D one. I'm twenty, and I feel like I think like an old-timer!
 
Yeah I just saw Alice in 2D on Blueray and it was AMAZING, I would much rather have had it in Blueray in the cinema then in 3D!
 
3D annoys me. I am physically unable to watch it so I can't see (HAR HAR) the big deal. Stupid lack of depth perception. It still seems like a gimmick (in some instances) to me as well because, unlike Avatar, a lot of movies that go to 3D are being converted (which, I hear, contributes to loss of picture quality :rolleyes.)

Also, you shouldn't need 3D to make your film more (oh, what's the right word?) immersible. Movies have managed to do that in 2D.

I'm so glad I'll be able to watch Inception in IMAX. I don't think it's being released in 3D in that format, at least.
 
Well, for the time being I saw two movies in 3D and I found it underused... You could do a lot more, like objects you feel like you could grasp just by reaching your hand or other things.... I feel like I saw a movie but doesn't remember it was in 3D.... I think it is interesting only if you really use it... Otherwise 2D is way better....

There is another thing, I got an awful headache after watching these because they seem to be quite demanding for the eyes.... 🙁
 
I just saw "Toy Story 3" in 3-D. I loved the movie, but I have to say the 3-D added absolutely nothing to it. It's like they barely remembered to add anything in that would be impressive in 3-D.

I can't see 3-D correctly because my eyes can't focus on two planes at the same time, and it all just looks blurry to me. It sucks, because the new Harry Potter movie and Narnia movie are coming out later this year, and everyone is going to want to see the 3-D versions, but I won't be able to.

I think they'll probably phase 2-D out altogether over the next couple of years. I'll be going to the theater a whole lot less when that happens. Maybe not at all.
