I have to say I personally don't. I read some of it, and thought it was a little weird. Then I read somewhere that

and decided to just give up completely. I don't have money to waste on awful story lines like that and Dander 😱

No. I've read most of it but I can't treat it like canon as it's just ridiculous. The entire plot is just OTT even for a show like Buffy. It just didn't flow properly. It's good for what it is but as a continuation of the series it's just not of the same standard imo.

No, i gave it a chance too, but it was just ludicrous. Even in the Angel comics Groo comes back on a flying horse, i thought What the heck is going on here!!! Just because you can, Joss, doesn't mean you should.

I've read issues 1-4, and the 5th is still sitting in the drawer unread. I didn't like it, so I didn't want to continue to read. However, I did read the Twilight arc, in order to write the recaps for it. Didn't make any difference in my opinion on the season.

I have to say though, I'm not sure whether I didn't want to keep reading because I hated the story, or because I don't like this media (comics). Could be both. Overall, it didn't feel like Buffy to me.

I think it was okay.
My main problem was mostly being able to read them properly. Understanding what actually happend on the pages.
I literally couldn't grasp what was going on at times. Not seeing who's who etc.

The long wait between issues was also a problem. Think I would enjoy them more if I had read all issues for each arc in one go.

Also don't understand why many seems to accept all the absolutely ridiculous things that happend in the TV show while having problem with silly things in the comics.

I think probably because on TV we're seeing real people with emotions whereas in the comics its just pictures, which make it seem even more stupid.

On TV it was all very limited. Joss himself said that in the comics form, he has more freedom, he's less limited. He doesn't have to rely on money and effects and stunts. Which means he has more freedom for ridiculous things.

Thank God he didn't have that freedom on TV. I can't even imagine what crazy ass stuff he'd do 😛 (I was gonna say this in Karma, but I gave you too much already 😛 )

I normally like comics and after Joss' Astonishing
xmen run and the Firefly comics I had high expectations. But I was horribly disappointed by Season 8. I like Angel After the Fall okay and the Faith arcs okay, but, overall, I would consider this one of Joss' most miserable failures.

Just the Season 8 artwork alone is terrible. I mean this is Buffy Season freaking 8 not the Sunday "funnies." Where is John Cassiday when you need him?

I like it. it's not my favorite season, but I like it better than season 1 and 6. Kind of more than season 3 and 7 too.

And to all you nay sayers, who won't read it because it sounds silly; You're watching a TV show were a ex-cheerleader fights vampires.* What I mean is, what at first sounds silly, isn't always.(Except for when it is ;P ) I mean, a part of me is still going "Buffy all of a sudden got a 14 year old sister? WTF!?!", but lots of weird plots have later on made sense, even been great.

No, I absolutely hate season 8. After the first few arcs the writing went drastically downhill. The art became abysmal, and the story made less and less sense as it went on. Buffy becoming a thief to fund her own agenda? Not cool. People are completely accepting of vampires? Yeah effing right. Don't even get me started on the Dawn plot-lines.

Not to mention this is the season where Joss gave a giant middle-finger to all the fans of Angel's character and AtS.

There was a few good arcs... mainly at the beginning. I thought it was okay overall. I definitely don't have strong feelings toward the Buffy comics as a whole. They're not close to the tv show. On the other hand, After The Fall was pretty good and was a lot like AtS.

Haha, I've just been talking to someone off of BB about S8 and we've come to the conclusion that Joss is probably laughing at his fans for thinking that the comics are serious. 😛

Oooh, I recommend reading issue 5. It made me cry and was what convinced me to continue reading season 8(I didn't like the first 4 issues at all, the first time I read it, but it grew on me). It's a great stand alone issue.

I liked aspects of it, but agree that Joss shouldn't have done many of the things that he did, just because he had no budget limiting him. Many times I've said that Joss should have treated the comics as though he was still writing with a TV budget...with some exception. I plan to write a blog post on it at some point, so once I do I'll share that with everyone.

I basically try not to think about it too much... otherwise it would cast an even bigger shadow of "I can't watch that cr*p" back through time over the show. It has done enough damage as it stands (used to consider S2 my fave, now I definitely don't anymore).

So no... I absolutely loathe S8, and bring myself to care anymore about how it continues onward into S9 now.

Everyone on AtS worked so hard for five years to get out of Buffy's shadow, to the point of Sarah herself citing that as a reason she didn't want to guest star, only to have Angel becoming a deus ex machina for Buffy and undoing years of character development for him.

No I didn't like season 8, I just thought it was boring. Season 9 so far has been boring too.. I'll keep reading them to find out what'll happen to the characters but I don't think it's fun to read them.

I gave them a chance, but stopped. For the reasons mentioned above. The Buffy omnibus comics are much more to my liking. They gave me the old BtVS feeling back. Something these comics (which I will never be able to look upon as 'season 8') never have.
