Yep, it was definitely a good season!

I hate when they gang up on Buffy!
Yes I like season 7. It wasn't the greatest season, but it was good. Especially to venture into the souled Spike thing. If season six had been the last, I'd gone nuts. And YAY Andrew came back, meaning we got my favorite scene ever. WE ARE GODS.

WAY to much Andrew. Come on!
I thought the first seven episodes were strong, but then the season seems to have lost focus, so many plotlines that didn't connect, important characters shoved to the background, adding more issues between the characters with no time left to deal with them, so rushed, so uneven, solutions coming out of nowhere, a lousy big bad.... etc.

So, while S7 had good moments: Spuffy, the Buffy/Xander/Dawn family unit, Xander's maturity, Dawn becoming Watcher Jr, Andrew's character growth... it isn't a very good season sadly.

I thought that Season 7 was great. Buffy and her crew ended up the series, as far as was known at that time, by facing off against the ultimate Big Bad, The First Evil, and walking away more or less victorious. There was closure of a sort between Xander and Anya. Willow managed to come to terms with the loss of Tara, even if doing so did introduce the least popular lover since Riley. Both Buffy AND Giles finally was faced with the fact that she was all grown up and no longer needed him to make the decisions. Buffy finally openly acknowledged a relationship with Spike, even to the point of defending him from her friends and at last even openly sleeping with him, which no doubt caused quite a stir at Castle Summers, then ultimately, FINALLY, admitting her true feelings for him, even going so far as to name him as her true Champion over that other vampire. And Spike himself, always the whipping dog and object of distrust and ridicule of the whole Scoobie gang, getting to undeniably save the day and like all true heroes, go out, literally in his case, in a blaze of glory.

The season even managed to make that most staunch Bangel, my dear Miss K, finally admit that Buffy did, indeed, have true feelings for Spike, even if she hasn't progressed so far down the path of enlightenment as to (openly) admit that the two were actually in love. We'll win her over yet, mark my words.

So, yeah, I liked Season 7. I'll go so far as to say that it's been my favorite Season of the entire series.

same i think season 7 is great !
Season 7 was great. They touch upon very interesting topics and go in very interesting directions with characters such as Spike. The season did have it's fair share of very serious moments, but it was balanced quite well with episodes like Him. Too much of the oh no what are we going to do about the big bad? would not bode well for the rest of the season.

I liked it.

I love season 7. My favorite eps are probably 'Bring on the Night', 'Showtime', and 'Storyteller'
I love Buffy's speech at the end of BOTN.
She's all beat up and still convinced they're gonna win.
And I love how she ends her speeches with questions.

Same i love that speech to :)
Loved season 7. First halfs just ok but second halfs phenomenal.
Best episodes LMPTM, Storyteller and Chosen.
The First was kinda lame but Caleb was great. I'd give this about 85ish %.

This is the reason i like season 7 🙂!.

Eh, season 7 isn't quite as bad as a lot of people make it out to be, but in my opinion, it's definitely one of the weaker seasons. It starts off very well with some really great episodes like Selfless and Conversations With Dead People, but after the Potentials come in, it starts to seem rushed and even sloppy and goes way downhill.

Still, aside from the sort of sloppy writing, I think the main reason why season 7 "failed" (although I use that term loosely, since it was still great compared to almost everything else on TV) was because it didn't focus enough on the group dynamic that made the show so great in the first place. The Scoobies were what kept me compelled throughout, and, since this season focused too much on Buffy, Spike (yes, even as a big Spike fan, I'm more than willing to admit that there was way too much of him in season 7), and a bunch of annoying teenage girls that none of the viewers actually cared about, they didn't get anywhere near enough development or screen time. Plus, the First was a weak villain who could have been good, but fell short due to poor execution. I did like Caleb, though, but I'm sort of biased because I'm madly in love with Nathan Fillion.

Agree. Especially your point about the Scoobies' lack of development.

I think S7 was just very hit or miss, just like S4-6. S2 & 3 were 100% great, and quality just dipped after that. At the same time, some of the best eps were in those hit or miss seasons (Hush, OMWF, Tabula Rasa, etc.)

Completely agree. And by the way you are very old!
It's not my favourite and not my least favourite. It comes about half way down my list of best seasons. Bottom half.

There were a few very good episodes but nothing outstanding.

It ended okay, but I had hoped for better from one of my top programs of all time.

I LOVE s7! It had so many great episodes in it (Lies My Parents Told Me, Touched, Empty Places, Chosen Showtime etc...) And it's the season I actually started to like Buffy and Spike as a couple. Especially in Showtime... in the end, how she looks at him... so beautiful

yes another one who loves season 7 :)!
I dug it.

I had never watched Buffy much when it originally aired. Once I started watching them on Hulu and then DVD I couldn't watch them fast enough. I saw the last episode today. I'm crushed.

I don't see how you people could stand the week wait between episodes and then months between seasons. But, now that I've raced through them, I'm jealous. You had 7 years of the unfolding story. I had about 6 months of intense Buffieness... and now it'll never be new again. Argh. I forced myself to watch season 7 more slowly than I did the other seasons because I knew it was my last chance for new-to-me Buffy.

For that reason, season 7 is special, where seasons 4, 5, & 6, while fantastic, kind of run together in my memory. I'll have to buy the DVDs and watch them more slowly to appreciate the nuance. Having seen all the extras on the current DVDs, I'll wait a while and see if re-issues come out with new features. I particularly would like to have more actor commentaries.

But I digress, Season 7 was way-cool. I loved the villains (Caleb and The First). While bitter-sweet, it was nice the way the Scoobies grew up and apart and then back together. They had a few problems along the way (Buffy was a bit preachy at times) but on the whole it was a strong season for one of the best shows ever.

Now to the graphic novels...

Even though there are some pretty hard to watch scenes in season 7, I can't help but love it! It was nice seeing the characters that I grew to love in the previous seasons, turn from these shy teenagers into confident grown-ups, who accept their destinies.
There are some things I didn't fully enjoy, but, I can see why they were necessary. The whole "gang turns against Buffy" made me want to throw things at my tv, but, thinking about it, it actually made sense in the big picture. The scoobies were no longer the sidekicks that lived under Buffy's shadow. They found their voice and spoke up! And, we can see that even Dawn had finally found her place in the gang and got over the "being a key" problem. Plus, they were kind of drifting apart for a long time (the First "helped out" a bit, as well) and sometimes (as ironic as it might seem) a fall out is just what people need to solve their issues. They needed a bit of time apart, just to be able to focus again on what was really important.
Season 7 also has some of the most amazing speeches in the whole series: the pep talk Spike gave Buffy or her speech to the slayerettes when she decided to share her powers. I'm sure there are more, but, right now, I can't think of any others. Yeah, my mind is funny that way: it goes blank when it shouldn't! Oh, well... 😛
Anyway, season 7 is not what I would call perfect, but, I loved every second of it, even when I hated it. Does this even make sense? lol

Just my two cents...

Season seven

Yeah,i liked it,especially andrew bless him.
Spike was cool too.
nathan fillions caleb scary(ish).

i think season 7 is a little bit over rated, for me it wasn't my favourite season, i liked the story of it, just i didn't think there was that much humour in it as the others, just my opinion.

I love season 7. My favorite eps are probably 'Bring on the Night', 'Showtime', and 'Storyteller'
I love Buffy's speech at the end of BOTN.
She's all beat up and still convinced they're gonna win.
And I love how she ends her speeches with questions.

Without actually digging it up, I believe I used most of that speech in my final paper last semester. I went from using just 1 line to putting the whole speech in verbatim, and analyzed the bonkers out of it.

Season 7 ranks high with me--it's very grown up but maintains a lot of the goofiness and innocence of that were seen in the HS seasons.
