Do you love dogs?

I got to thinking. Why do none of the characters we love in our favorite television shows ever own dogs?

Buffy and her family - no dogs. Giles - no dogs.

I would not want to live without dogs.

How about you? And if so what kind do you have or want?

I have a Basset hound and a French bulldog, and I couldn't love them more. And they love each other. And life is too short to be without dogs.

Y'all?

I am a total cat person. I have always had a cat in my family since I was born though. I don't mind dogs so much it is just that cats have a special place with me. But English Sheep dogs have always been my favorite dog. Especially the ones that have the hair that covers their eyes.

But it is strange that none of the characters ever had pets. Besides Amy the rat. I guess they were always too busy.

Aw, "life's to short to be without dogs", I love that! 😀

I love both cats and dogs. My husband is allergic to cats, which is like my biggest sadness in life, because I have to admit that cats make my heart a little extra warm. 🙂 We do have a dog though who I love very much. Her name is Hilda and she's a shih-tzu. Without the long hair though, we cut it. 🙂

I love dogs.

When I was a child (cause of my father's allergies) I didn't get to have one of my own but I kind of did anyway, our neighbors had a border collie - the most wonderful dog - that they had rescued from an abusive home. He could have some aggressive tendencies therefor, which is sad cause it was just his attempt of defense, but if one thing was sure it's that he loved me and I loved him. He would run away from home to be with me and he was fiercely protective of me... aw, man I loved that dog. He was wonderful and playful and very kind unless he felt threatened.

So I would want a border collie in the future or a great dane, because I've always wanted one and I think they're amazing. I also used to work with african ridgebacks and greyhounds (very strong dogs!) and I found those both to be amaing breeds but not really for me.

That's not an actual photo of him haha I don't have any on my computer, but he's that color 🙂

and we have a pomeranian/poodle mix named Leo...who is insane. Grr I can't find this really cute picture of him...it's on my computer somewhere. This crap is so unorganized.

I prefer cats though. We used to have two lovely cats *sigh* I won't get into that now. Right now I really wish I had a dachshund named Daphne and a british shorthair named Rupert to cuddle with. My dogs are not cuddly. Bear is a recluse and Leo is a psycho. Wonder where they get that from...😉.

Awww, handsome pups!
I've always loved dogs, and have always had at least one my entire life except for the 4 years that I was in the Navy. It should be noted that all of those dogs for the past 30 years have been either found when they were abandoned by the previous owner or adopted from the local pound.

As for the distinct absence of pets on "Buffy," I have noticed thst there were only 2 animals were ever shown in the entire run of the show, and both of them were shown in one single scene, then never again. Actually, I have always just assumed that the absence of dogs and cats in Sunnydale was mostly due to the demon population killing them, possibly as food.

Nooooo, why did you say that!

I adore dogs. I like cats too and live with one when I'm at uni, but prefer dogs as they tend to have more personality. Plus it's always nice when you come home and they're really happy to see you.

Here's my dog

Her name is Pickles. She's a terrier/Jack Russell cross. She's getting on a bit now but would spend ages trying to attack pretty much anything when she was younger- hot air balloons, fireworks, dogs 3 times the size of her, even a horse once. She has no fear, though has mellowed out a lot as she's gotten older.

When I'm living on my own I'm going to get two dogs- a Jack Russell called Molly and a West Highland Terrier called Inara. Some people have their kids' names prepared, I have my dogs', sounds odd but I don't think so.

Makes sense to me;
Future cat (I don't care I'm allergic) - Rasputin
Future dog - Special agent Dale Cooper. Coop for short

🙂

Most excellent names!
I'm scarred of dogs. Got bitten by one when I was a kid, been scarred ever since. If I really had to have one though, I'd take those little tiny ones that look like purse dogs. They're cute and how bad can they be...

This is my dog Duke. He's a black labrador/newfoundland mix. I adopted him from an animal sanctuary. He'll be two in November and weighs around 120 lbs (they're clickable). I love him.

So beautiful!! :D
I am pretty much obsessed with dogs. We always had a dog in our house growing up and pretty much all of my relatives had dogs. No one really had cats, so I just don't have much of an affinity with them.

My dog is a four year-old Border Collie/German Short-hair Pointer mix. She's super smart and pretty much awesome.

I'm really not comfortable around dogs- we never had one as a family and my parents have had cats for about the last thirty years- and I have to say I was quite scared of them until I was about 11 because we lived near an estate where people basically used to let their dogs run around in packs. One morning on my way to school my mum and I were surrounded by a pack of barking dogs and it's still one of the most frightening things I can remember happening to me.

Nothing against dogs as such, but it takes quite a bit for me to be able to relax with a large dog in the room even now.

PassionBecoming agrees: Actually, I've had a lot of groomers and vets tell me some of the worst bites they've ever gotten are from little dogs...

Well then I guess I'll get a cat....

We have four dogs, so I better love them! We have two Belgian Malinois and two American Bulldogs (although one will be moving with my sister next month). The malis are high strung and not as personable, although I still love them. The bulldogs are my favorite though. I have never had a dog as sweet and lovable as my bulldog.

Here's Luci (although I've posted this pic before)

I totally agree about the bulldogs. Americans, Pits, and Staffordshires are absolutely wonderful dogs with a totally undeserved bad reputation.
I love dogs... I love cats too, though. I'm a sucker for cuddly animals. 🙂 I can no longer have a dog or cat though; we found out the hard way that my youngest is allergic. :/ we had a gorgeous English Bulldog named Eleanore that we had to get rid of because Caitlyn was getting to the point where the allergy was affecting her breathing. 🙁

The bulldogs are my favorite though. I have never had a dog as sweet and lovable as my bulldog.

And the odds are, you never will have. Pits, Staffordshires, and American Bulldogs are wonderful, loyal, brave, and loving animals who have gained a totally undeserved reputation due entirely to the abuse and irresponsibility of a few owners and the utter stupidity of what today serves as the "news" media. If we judged people by the same standards that we judged these dogs, it would be nothing less than bigotry.

We agree?! I knew it!! It IS the end of the world! lol I think we've agreed before on this. They are loving wonderful dogs. BSL helps no one!
I've never really cared for dogs and when I was small I watched my aunts dog pick up my kitten in it's mouth and kill it, so now I pretty much hate them. But I'm responding to the part about why they don't have dogs or any pets really on Buffy, I'd assume with all the slaying and constant craziness in Sunnydale, it' be rather hard to make time for a pet. It's probably for the best that they didn't have any. Buffy did admit to killing her goldfish haha.
