Do you miss school?

Doesn't matter where I work etc or when I talk to others who are having a bad day at work or things like that, they always seem to say that they wish they were back in school or that they had stayed at school longer to go on to do something else etc.

For me, I don't think I could have stayed any longer, I was happy to leave when I did..., I have regrets that I probably could have done better than I did, and at times I look back and should have stuck in harder in some lessons, but I don't really have any regrets about where I have ended up since school etc..

I miss playing football with friends etc and the general good times and laughs lol , what about you? Would you go back and do anything different or do you plan to return back to any form of education?

I have been binge watching Dance Academy and wow, I did not expect it to bring up as many high school memories as it has! I miss the randomness of school, always something new and exciting going on. Its been rainy today so life seems a bit grey and dreary. I miss seeing the diversity of exceptional dance, music and colour before school and in lunch breaks. I miss the educational challenges, but I do not miss the age nor home life at that time. I wouldnt want to repeat high school, but it was a fun time for me. I only recently realised that I was very lucky to experience that schooling environment, both as a scholarship student and boarder. I miss having my pony with me, and lately, especially on cold mornings, I have missed rowing like mad.

I didnt last long enough at uni, either time, to see the level of talent and fun that I did in high school. All I saw were drinking events and social rallies. Everyone wanted to be the same. It was unappealing. Its likely I will have to do a few tafe (low level training collage) for my current work and community commitments, but I doubt I will ever go back to uni.

I think what I miss most, is competition. I rarely reflected on schooling when I was competing and coaching.

I went through a bit of a rough patch in high school, more or less by choice I refused to go for a lot of my final year and it was nothing to do with school really, at the time I had a bad tendency of 'day dreaming' for lack of a better way to put it, what was reality and what I wanted to be reality were very much two different things, but at the same time I also self taught myself a lot, I loved history etc and would like to think I taught myself pretty well in that respect.

I think at the time as well I seen (especially my final year) of school to be more of a chore than a necessity and as such just decided that I would rather be spending my time doing what I wanted rather than something that had to be forced. I still did well in the respect that I have had a job since I was 16 and I now do engineering and that was with no formal academical certificate. Again this is something I relate back to Buffy and Angel as well, Buffy had two episodes on daily on the very old Sky One channel, never missed it and I think seeing the struggles that she went through during high school/college etc and still turned out alright, it put it into perspective for me that maybe it wasn't the worst thing in the world missing a lot of my final year

In high school, I was like the worm that lives in a radish, I never realized that life could be sweet until I got out. Once I was in university, things got better but I was busy (electrical engineering is a demanding course) and didn't get as much of the campus lifestyle as people in the arts.

My high school was Royal York Collegiate Institute and it became much more famous after it died. At its peak during the time I was there, it had 1536 students. By the time it closed it only had 472 students (and I did work with one guy who graduated in the last year). It then became the Etobicoke School of the Arts. Emily Haines of Metric went there. Most of the cast of DeGrassi Junior High went there (a popular Canadian TV show). But the most interesting story is in some dispute. The school claims Keanu Reeves attended but was expelled. Keanu's own website says he applied but was turned down. Huh? They can't both be right unless he did something pretty dire during the interview. But a lot of people who lived nearby just called it "clown school" since a lot of students were not really reaching for the stars and came to school in costume. And I can say I walked the same hallowed halls as some famous people - just a long time before they did.

Its weird ay, I didnt see it as a special thing to get into the schools I did, until years later I realised how rich my teen years were. Makes it sorta sadder to have lost so much of that ability because I followed doctors orders instead of trusting god.

There have been SO many times I have been watching aussie tv and gone "hey! I sat next to him in social studies!" Or "she used to copy my music homework!" There were many tv shows filmed on campus (students got first options as extras, so much so, that it was a bore by year 9) as the place was so pretty. News teams were at school regularly due to its location.

The chick from 13 Reasons Why is probably the most currently well know, but other students are aussie known entertainers, pollies, rhodes scholars and athletes. Lunch time performances were incredible. Even the teachers performed.

I do not miss music practice and chior comps on the weekends. I do miss pony club, netball and dance on the weekends 😀

It's weird when I think about it now, but when we were in high school in the UK, a load of people wanted to have the USA College style that gets shown on the television etc, it was though it was a completely different world to what it was here lol.

We had an old library here that not many people went to after school obviously lol, there was maybe about 8 people or so (with me) that went from school on occasion, I miss that, that's one thing Buffy does remind me of a lot when they are in the library

I don't really care to go back to high school but I wouldn't mind taking more college courses. There are so many interesting subjects that would be neat to learn more about, and doing so in a structured academic setting would be fun (for me).

I think people miss the freedom and lack of responsibility more than the schooling.

I know, it's like being the kid with no money but no real need for it, and the adult with the money but it goes on everything you don't want lol

I doubt that but I know I'd never bully someone. Bullies have no comprehension of the damage they do imo.

You're already above them by not bullying, that a lone makes you better. It always works it way back on them down the road, karma never forgets

I don't miss the part with all of the homework and tests.

I do miss the part where I didn't have responsibilities and the worse news I could dream of getting was that I failed a test.

I hated school. I'd never go back. Bullied all the way through 🙁
Yep, this. I occasionally see people I was at school with, several with kids now coming up to high school age too!

I know the feeling, loads of them have kids now haha
Hell no! I was bullied and tormented the whole of my school life I had no friends aswell. Sometimes I do wish I could have had a different school experience or go back to school age and have a better time though.

I'm still currently in school. And I have to say I do enjoy it more than the year I took off to work. But, it's probably bc I just didn't like by 1.5 hr commute to my job.

As for high school, I loved it. I would probably do it all over again if I was guaranteed to still end up with where I am today.

Undergrad was really rough the first year. My roommate was the ultimate mean girl bitch for lack of a better term. I was really lonely and didn't have a lot of friends and really missed my family and friends from high school. But, once I joined a co-ed fraternity it all got much better and I ended up loving college. I do think I didn't appreciate it or I guess live in the moment as much as I should have.
That's why now that I'm in dental school, I really try to be more active and do more things with friends and family. I try to not take any of it for granted, while of course still grinding hard.

But yeah, no matter what time of school it is they were all better than just that 1 year of actually working a grown up job lol.
So very happy to be back in school!!

I never realised it but I had such a good time at school, (said with as much sarcasm as I could muster). We didn't have much of a problem with bullying plenty of other problems though. In the town where I grew up, in the (the Midlands U.K.). Our school was the school that kids were sent to after they were banned at all the other schools in town. So either you were a skinhead, a Mod, a biker, or the others.
There was only a few riots at the school, it sounds a bad time but it wasn't, as life was pretty much the same. The U.K. had it rough for decades, the pitched battles of the Mods and Rockers became street battles of the skinheads and bikers, then there was the pitched battles of the football club supporters. Bullying didn't get noticed as it was covered over with which social group you were in.
Do I miss my school? Good grief no, and if it was destroyed tomorrow - good.

I have more freedom and lack of responsibility now. Its boring. I miss challenge and results. I was treated fairly and respected as a student. Now, I am disabled, I am actively encouraged NOT to try, constantly told I am not capable and patronized when I try to discuss new ideas or goals.

I am glad I finished school before social media. Facebook hate groups years later were my first experience of bullying. Just didnt seem so wide spread at my schools. Maybe its because the schools were small and selective? I know the general public have never been so nasty to my face. (Which is currently looking like a teenagers face. When do you grow out of pimples? Lol)

I don't miss high school. But I definitely miss my college (undergrad) years. Leaps and bounds over long working hours, bills, taxes, mortgage etc. Back in those days, it was just about what party we would be hitting that weekend and what we were going to dress up for halloween. Those were simpler times.

You couldn’t pay me to go back to high school. I honestly thank God facebook and YouTube wasn’t a thing back then. I was bullied throughout and had such bad friendships and insecurity I would never want to relive it. It was when I left high school and turned 19 that things got better for me and I started enjoying life.

I wouldn’t mind taking more college courses. That was fun, and I love to learn.
