I play the guitar, I thought I'd tell you since it wasn't one of the choices in your poll at the top. One of the few girls in my school who play the guitar. I think me, my friend, and maybe 1 or 2 other girls play but thats all. I hope to pick up the bass pretty soon. (much eaiser then the guitar)😀

Well.... I play baritone, but I use to play trumpet. I'm so gald I switched horns. Baritone is just so much fun to play. But it's kinda hard to march with.

I can play the keyboard and am currently working on drums and acoutic guitar. Something tells me that after i'm done with drums, playing bass will be a lot easier to learn 😉

I played the clarinet in high school, but haven't touched it in a loong time, poor thing.
I play the piano poorly and the bass guitar poorly (not very good at doing two different things with my hands 🙂 ).
I play the tin whistle well, and will be getting a hurdy-gurdy one of these days. It's being custom built which takes a long time with the waiting list and all. It has been four years already and probably another one before I actually get it. I hope it's going to be as enjoyable as I think it will.
I really love to sing but have performance anxiety so mostly do so all by myself.

The Hurdy-Gurdy

This is a cool thread, innit? Thanks, Dragnolias!
The hurdy-gurdy -- veille in France -- was the traditional instrument of the medeival troubadour. More recently, it has been used by some rock musicians, most notably Page and Plant (1995 tour) and Loreena McKennitt.
Even though it's a stringed instrument, the sound is like a combination between a bagpipe and an oboe. One hand turns a crank which operates the "drone" (single note) strings and there is a keyboard, played by the other hand, which plays the melody by striking like a piano, rather than plucking like a harpsichord.

What about voice? 😱

I was a little suprised that a seasoned musician wouldn't have voice as one of the options. I am not, of course, talking about singing in the shower or something like that, but there are a lot of people (myself included) who put a lot of time and effort into thier singing, including lessons and hours of practice, just like any other musician.
It hurts a little to be considered second class citizens in the music world, just because our instrument is internal. How would a drummer feel if you told him/her that their's wasn't a "real" instrument because anyone could bang on a crate?
At the very least you could have had an "other" category, for people who sing or play less conventional instruments.


Sorry about the rant, this is just something that really bugs me.
