Nope. Never smoked. Too many cons, and honestly I just never FELT like smoking, so there.

I don't smoke ind doorways, that's just rude.

I do however, smoke in front of building, off to the side. And I see nothing wrong with that. I'm not blowing my smoke in your face, and you don't have to come near me.

Win, win.

I dont smoke cigarettes now, but I used to be a smoke them. I didnt realise how much smoke could bother non smokers until I quit. I was pissed off when they banned smoking in pubs and clubs, but now I see that it was a good thing. If people want to smoke that is fine by me, as long as they respect that I dont want the second hand smoke. (Of course this is different if I am in outdoors or at a party, if I can move away that is up to me)

I will very rarely have a cigarette. It usually takes me about a month to get through a pack, and if less than a month goes by and I need to get more, it's probably because my friends have bummed a few off of me. It's something I enjoy doing, but not something I feel the need to do every day.
I'm not grossed out by other smokers, in fact, I kinda find it sexy to a certain point. I don't smoke in the house because I know my dad hates the smell, and it's his house.

I gotta say how hilarious it is to see all of the Arizonans here mention that though they don't smoke cigarettes, they still "smoke." Ohhh, Arizona. 🙂

hahaha good point
I dont smoke but most of my family and friends do. My best friend who I dont actually get to see so often anymore actually picked up smoking a few months ago. It was weird hearing the news as him and I used to make fun of our families together for smoking.

I used to smoke, but I quit 2010. I'm very happy with this decision. I feel better in a lot of ways.

If I have to 'keep the smoke to myself' then why don't people have to keep their fat asses out of my view?!

Hey, that's not really fair. Second hand smoke can be dangerous, looking at a overweight person isn't hurting you. I understand that you get defensive though, I think it's rude saying it's disgusting to smoke. As long as the smoker is respectful it shouldn't be anyones concern.

Okay...that is a terrible comparison. I'd rather have someone's fat ass in my view than a cloud of smoke that is bad for me, in my face. How can another person's weight have an affect on me? I don't like being around smokers because the smoke is disgusting (in my opinion, obviously). It makes me feel sick and my eyes water. Do I find people who smoke disgusting? No. But the smoke itself is gross. If a person wants to smoke, I do believe that they should try to find a spot that is near other smokers or away from kids at least. I remember when some guy lit a cigarette right next to my friend who was using her inhaler haha it was kind of humorous but mostly just rude.

Anyway, I will never smoke. My grandma used to smoke (since she was 12) and she started using an oxygen tank a few years ago. My mom would be horrified and devastated if I did because her own mother is sick because of it. If someone else wants to do it, that is their deal. I just don't have an interest in it personally, but maybe that's because I've seen the effects first hand. I used to hang out in my grandma's room often as a kid while she smoked and my poor mom worried so much about the secondhand smoke. I so don't care what other people choose to do, as long as they're respectful. My grandma probably shouldn't have smoked in front of me, but she learned it from her mom who smoked in front of her...so I guess it didn't occur to her. I am so not trying to sound preachy, that is just my own personal reason for not wanting to try it.

Well I don't find smoke itself gross but I do find ugly and fat people revolting. It makes me PHYSICALLY ill to stare at people imaging what is going on in their bowels and arteries. Eww.

I was being quite deliberately obtuse in my statement. It draws such a comparison in the way people react to me stating that fat people are gross to the way people react to other people saying that smokers are gross.

Although looking at an overweight person isn't hurting me, it is hurting the economy. I pay a hell of a lot of my pay towards funding public hospitals that are caring for people that insist on living unhealthy lives.

It just simply can not be said that smokers are the same strain. Me being a smoker means that I pay roughly $100 per week directly towards smoking related problems. I don't see obese people paying that kind of tax on their revolting food...

WOW. Your really pissed about this. Im a skinny smoker myself, but damn, i can admit its not a good habit to have.
Not a smoker and never will be one. If people want to smoke that's their choice but I what I don't understand is those who do it when they have a higher risk of getting cancer. I have a friend at work who has had a lot of family members with cancer and she herself has a heart condition and has had cancerous cells removed. Yet she continues to puff away on cigarettes knowing it's not helping her health what so ever. That really grates on my nerves.

Are you saying you have never indulged in food you know is bad for you? Ever? Never? Wow.

WOWZERS 'ave you like never 'ad a burger or summing? WOW. Never? Ever? Wow? Just wow? Wow? Not even a fry? ;)
I dont smoke but most of my friends and all my family do. Its a choice, it doesnt change who you are as a person and as long as you follow the laws surrounding it I dont have a problem about it. I have just never been stressed enough to start it.

I do smoke but it's usually 2/3 cigarettes a day.I don't smoke on holidays. And I haven't been smoking for 3 weeks and I don't mind so I think I won't have too much trouble quiting.

Nah I don't smoke. I don't mind if others do, it's their choice at the end of the day, but I'd rather they didn't do it near me. The smell actually makes me retch so when people I know start smoking I pretty much go somewhere else until they're done if they insist on doing it around me!

No I don't. Both my parents and grandparents do though so I'm pretty used to having it around me so I wouldn't say I'm totally grossed out by it or anything. I will mind somewhat how easily it sticks to your hair and clothes however :S

I'm the only one of my friends who doesn't... I have asthma so it would be stupid if I did. I make my boyfriend smoke outside... my mom made my dad smoke outside... man that is Freudian. But I don't mind smoking... I draw the line at chewing tobacco which is a bit too popular in Oklahoma. (Gags silently to self)

I don't smoke. I grew up with my dad smoking cigars, and whilst I don't find that smell as repulsive as cigarette smoke, it was more than enough to put me off ever trying it.

I don't have a problem with people who choose to smoke, but I do hate it when they smoke around others. I am sincerely grateful for the smoking ban in pubs, clubs and other public places.

Congrats on MOTM! :D
Never tried one. Never saw the point. The whole "You should know what it feels like" argument didn't agree with me. Especially since so many said it felt bad, but still they got hooked.

I'm no fan of smoke but I'd never say that smokers are disgusting. I'll have to admit, kissing a smoker wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm glad that smoking are forbidden in some places but mostly it's about respect. Some have it, some don't. It's not decided by you being a smoker or not. I got friends that smoke. They know I don't like the smoke so they try and get/keep it away from me. I don't treat my body the best, neither do they.

If I have to 'keep the smoke to myself' then why don't people have to keep their fat asses out of my view?!
One is an action, one is a consequence. Would it be fair for them not to eat in public and smokers aren't allowed to smoke in public? Underground smoking clubs and "bad food" restuarants. 😀 How are we going to do with everything ugly (be it humans, buildings etc) and smelly in the world. It'll always bug someone. And worst of all, we all got different taste. We'll never have a good solution.

It just simply can not be said that smokers are the same strain. Me being a smoker means that I pay roughly $100 per week directly towards smoking related problems. I don't see obese people paying that kind of tax on their revolting food...
Here it's actually been talk of extra tax on "bad" food. Not sure how serious, but since we have it on tobacco and alcohol who knows where it ends up. If we get it, a lot of people will probably don't like it. Give it a decade or three. It usually take time to adjust to changes. I'm not against it.

About the $100 a week I'm feeling slow. Can you expand on that?

I apologize if I'm just talking nonsense. My head has been even more messed up the last week.
