Question Do you think Angel would have asked for Lindsey's help, in Not Fade Away, if...

If Angel had Groosalugg or any other people that somewhat owed them their life (and hypothetically trustworthy and without any connections with W&H or it's umbrella associates), do you think Angel would have asked Lindsey for help?

I mean, I get it, there would have been no one to take out the Sahrvin clan if Lindsey wasn't there but if someone else was, do you think Angel wouldn't have asked Lindsey for help? Of course, no one in Buffy's organization would help Angel at that point, as Andrew said.

Hypothetically, these minor characters somewhat owe Angel their life or Angel can manipulate them, or as a favor, to do the killings for him:

Casting issues for the series aside, do you think, if the 5 mentioned above could have been used by Angel, would he have not asked Lindsey for help?

I think that, if they had been available, Angel would, or at least should, have asked any or all of those characters, plus several others, as well as beating the bushes and recruiting as many of the non evil demons in the area. He was going to be facing an army in that alley, or at least the full fury of the Senior Partners, and he knew that before he ever revealed his plan to his own team. About the only valid reason that I can come up with that he didn't, other than being a poor tactician, was that he had to keep his plans private until the last moment, and he couldn't be sure that all of those people would be able to keep the secret.

On the other hand, if he didn't trust Lindsey, and planning to have him killed as soon as he had completed his part of the mission is a pretty good indication that he didn't, why did he recruit him in the first place? Lindsey doubtlessly knew of some way to get in contact with the Senior Partners or someone who could have, and that would have gone a long way towards getting him back into their good graces.

I don't think we can say that Angel knew W&H would send an army to attack him and the city. He was certainly aware that there would be a severe response from the Senior Partners, but remember, the alley was a rallying point. He wasn't planning some epic last stand there, that's just what happened.

And you are right, secrecy was paramount. The story makes it so vital that Angel kills Drogyn to ensure nothing escapes to where the Senior Partners might find out.

Yeah, but he managed to trust Lindsey because he was one man short? Lindsey, although hunted by the Senior Partners, still could have had enough connections to screw Angel over and become the new W&H CEO or have a deal to get Eve her immortality back or something.

IMO, Groo was a far better choice than Lindsey. They could even have him sing for Lorne just to check. Wherever Groo was, they could have located him and put him on a plane to LA. Spike and Angel went to England by Jet due to urgency, after all.

You also had the Judge, although that is only if Angel knew where to find his body parts, which I assume only the Scoobies know and will never tell Angel after Angel became W&H LA CEO.

And you're right as well, Angel didn't know in advance what the Senior Partners would do, or to what extreme their reaction would be, or even when it would happen. He was more than reasonably sure, though, that, whatever it was, it was going to be more sooner than later. He did show up in the alley with a sword, and Angel rarely carried anything like that without a good reason, so he certainly was expecting something. It's a shame that he didn't know about the team of Slayers who were stationed there in LA. Maybe he could have convinced them that e actually could be trusted.

At least 4. They were shown in the "After The Fall" arc in IDE's version of "Season 6 Angel," before Dark Horse took the character back. No explanation of specifically why they were there, but I've always suspected that Giles assigned them there to keep tabs on Angel, his "evil law firm," and Spike, and make sure that neither vamp actually ever got in contact with Buffy.
