Do you think Btvs is the greatest show ever?

Buffy's definately on the list of my top 3 favorite shows. I can watch episodes over and over again, without getting bored. Also, I joined a Charmed forum once and it wasn't as much fun as this one, because I like Buffy more and it's more interesting to talk about. However, my all time favorite show is Happytown, because it was such a wonderful show and it shouldn't have been cancelled. But Buffy comes in second after that, because it's such an amazing TV show and my favorite characters as well as my favorite ships of all time are in it.

It is my second favorite tv show...so not the greatest...I don't think there's a greatest in general. My number one tv show (you don't wanna know which one) FOR ME it's the greatest and not because I enjoy more than others but because I simply grew up with it so it'll always have a special place in my heart..as well as Buffy (which I knew years later)who is second and very close. To me,greatest doesn't mean it's perfect and therefore nothing else will ever top that..great to me means I place it above other tv shows but it doesn't automatically make the best. I'm not sure I'm being clear, I'm kinda rambling. Anyway...let's answer your questions!!

Story? The story is quite good, it's a whole world of mythology and it's what gotten me into vampires so..I'm really ok with it. Sure, there are some bad plots but who doesn't do bad plots every once in a while in a tv show?

Dialogue? The dialogue is something I really value and I simply love it..it alternates so many things and references a lot..never manages to bore me and I'm always caught up by it.

Characters? Some truly amazing characters...I feel connected with them SO much and they were developed perfectly. This is an almost perfect trait.

How the actors portray the characters? I think they were really good, nothing to say about that..just David was a little "forced" in Season 1 but it was his first acting job and then he became amazing. I also think Sarah,Anthony and Alyson were the best.

The chemistry between the actors? I'm just gonna say one thing: BANGEL!

Special effects? Oh well, I'm not much for special effects..I enjoy vampire faces and dusting and that's enough for me.

The directing? Nothing to say about this..it was very well shot and truly can't find a single complain.

How hot the actors are? David..uhm...WOW. Sarah is so beautiful, Anthony is quite fascinating for a man his age (LOL)..these are probably my favorites.

Consistency in quality? Good quality..nothing perfect but I'm satisfied.

The settings? AWESOME, purely awesome. The library was great, the cemetery (because it was one) was so cool, The Magic Box...I also loved Giles' house and Buffy's of course.

Buffy is my favorite show. It has been for years, and I can honestly say I think about it everyday..I'm not really ashamed to admit that here. Hehe.. Although, I don't know if there is a right way to clearly define or classify what "the greatest show ever" could be or is. I mean, ultimately everyone has a different opinion on what "great" is. What someone considers "the best" is based on multiple factors. I mean everyone has different experiences, beliefs, attitudes, level of maturity and intellect, I could go on... but getting to my point, as many different perspectives there are, not one of them is particularly right or wrong. I think "the greatest show ever" is essentially in the eye of the beholder. So as much as I'd love to say Buffy is the best thing that ever happened to this world (and the biased part of me does), I can't really say that any show is or ever will be. I believe that if a show has had an impact on you, and there is an emotional attachment in some way, I think a show has done its justice. Nothing is perfect, and how horrible would it be if TV shows always were. I think that would be a complete false representation of reality, since everyday life is somewhat chaotic for everyone in some aspect. For me, Buffy is my rock. I can find an episode that suits my mood any day of the week, and at other points I can marvel at the character development, philosophy, and wonderful world that has now taken residency in my mind. The show has changed me, and my perspective of the world. So for me, Buffy is number one, and the best gift of a show that the world could have, if they let it be. 🙂 If its not your 'greatest show', that's cool.

Its the only show that has kept my interest throughout the seasons. Unfortunately, I've not gotten into the comics, but the actually TV series I've watched over and over again. Other shows I haven't been as loyal too. I dont know if that's more to do with my age now or if you can put it down to the great writing and stories of Buffy.

It is. So once again. That's the reason the thread title say "Do you think..." 😉

The thread has been an interesting read so I'm glad I started it. Not that any of you have convinced me to change my mind. Not that it was the point. One thing that make Btvs great is how much you can discuss it in so many ways. How many academic and philosofial books hasn't been written and still are? And even if the show has some awesome episodes it's the whole that to me make it great. For me personally to call it the greatest it got way too many plotholes (not that Joss ever has claimed otherwise) and too many episodes that drag the show down. Still one of may all time favorites and an awesome show that everyone should give a chance.

I wonder what my reasoning had been if I were younger and had grown up with it? I'm sure it hadn't been the same.
