Do you think Buffy came back the same?

Besides the theory that Tara spouted, do you think that Buffy was the same in the sense of her powers, her strength and her speed?

I believe that she was off a little, seemed a little less powerful or it maybe coulda been because she was so depressed. I'm trying to think of the name of the first song she sings in OMWF, but it accuractly describes how before she died she was at the peak of her power and skill, but she was slipping and didn't seem that great at her job.

I think that she came back the same, but she was severely traumatized by being yanked out of Heaven. I think that the world just wasn't as real to her anymore and that was the cause of her "slipping." Partially I also think that she thought something was wrong (evidenced by her treatment of Spike) and didn't perform as well due to that. But I think she was at full strength, just not full strength mentally.

The first song in OMWF is called "Going Through The Motions"

Agreed totally. Buffy was the same. She just looked at the world differently than before and wasnt at top strength mentally.
 
I believe she was the same in her skill and power and well everything else, but she just went through such a tough time that she reacted differently to situations she would otherwise not react in that way to. What she went through changed the way she felt about certain things, but she was physically the same person.
 
The only thing that was different was the fact that she was very unhappy. Her slayer strengh and what not were all the same.
 
I'm sure her abilities were the same,she haven't undergone any changes during her time in heaven..She simply felf depressed,insecure,disorientated,confused and these were the factors that made her question her life,the purpose of it and inevitably 'the whole being the Slayer' thing

I think being torn out of heaven to watch your father figure (Giles) leave, and your best friend become a junkie was a little overwhelming for her. I don't think she wanted to be there in a majority of season 6. That probably had a serious affect on her slaying abilities. I don't think she was truly happy to be alive again until the end of the last episode when she tells Dawn she wants to show her the world. :idunno:
 
I believe that most of your abilities in life stem from your mental and emotional health. It can mean weakness from strength in all aspects of your life. Buffy was very shut down in a lot of ways. Her abilities in general suffered a great deal. I think she was very different when she came back. She was for a long time. But all of the tragedy birthed a new slayer. A stronger one. Eventually she got her barrings and all of the things she suffered made her stronger mentally and emotionally. Therefore her physical strength was boosted by her new found sense of self.

Great comment. The part about her becoming a stronger slayer is dead on. You completely expressed my feelings about season 6.
I think you could say the same for almost everyone in S6. Willow, Xander, they all faced internal demons, and that's what makes S6 so great. The metaphor of fighting external demons to represent internal ones comes full circle, and the internal ones result in demons...Willow and Anya...
