Do you think Cordelia and Anya would get along?

I know they spent some time together in The Wish, when Anya was a demon. But when Anya really came into her own as a character (season 4 onwards), Cordelia had left. Do you think they would have been friends if Cordelia had stayed in the show?
 
I honestly believe that if Cordy had stayed in Sunnydale after graduation and on into Seasons 4 and beyond, there would have been no place for Anya in the show. Cordy and Xander would have gotten back together (I thought that they were well on the way reconciling at the end of Season 3) and would have remained an item for the rest of the series, maybe even actually being able to go through with the wedding in Season 6.

It would have worked out great if, when Anya ran away to avoid the Ascension, she wound up in L A and basically filled Cordy's spot on "Angel," and with her demonic experience, she would have been a much more appropriate candidate for Doyle to pass his vision ability onto.

I love the idea of them switching. Anya would have bought some welcome humour and lightness to the constant darkness of AtS.
I really doubt it actually, in many ways their too similar. Cordelia would think Anya was...basically crazy (though she might admire her lack of tact) and we saw how Cordy was never really good at interacting with socially awkward people (Fred- the two of them were never close).
Anya would be jealous/insecure over Xander's previous girlfriend hanging around. She how she reactes to Willow when Willow had kissed Xander once in the past (and was 'gay now') and I think she would've been passive-aggressively trying to get Cordelia not to hang around.

If they ever got over those (strong) initial reactions though...maybe. Anya did contrast with all the female characters around her (in fact I don't remember her being close to any of them) so maybe somebody who was more like her would've made her feel like she belonged.

Cordy and Anya friends? No, not likely. Competitors might be interesting, though. Just imagine poor ol' Xander having two hot girls fighting over him for the next 4 seasons. The potential comedic factor alone could be priceless. They might even get their own spin off. If they were both in Sunnydale after Season 3, however, Spuffy vs Bangel might not be the only ongoing shippers' debate on the Boards.
 
I think they could tolerate each other, but only for a while... but oh the funny moments we would have had in the meantime!
As said earlier by White Avnger, I'm not sure there would have been enough space in Sunnydale for both of them 😉
 
I think they could relate to each other somewhat.
Cordelia: She was the queen bee of Sunnydale high, now that's over, she's poor and doesn't really know her place.
Anya: She was a demon feared by men for centuries, now that's over, she's powerless and doesn't really know her place.

Whether that would translate to friendship... I dunno. I think Cordelia, even if she had stayed in Sunnydale, would still develop and grow up. So even if she liked Anya early on, I'm not sure how well Anya's gleeful reminiscing of slaughter would go down later on. If Anya developed with her, then perhaps. Then again, maybe Cordelia would just be all "Oh that zany Anya!" like everyone else was.
