I think her final appearance in Your Welcome was very touching but I also feel that she should have been in the final battle alongside Angel. What do you guys think?

I definitely agree with you. She was there with him from the very beginning, she should have been there at the end. You're welcome was a wonderful episode, and I'm glad she got Angel back on the right track, but it was still sad to see her go. 🙁

I prefered seeing her leave in "You're welcome", that way I felt more satisfied getting a more comlete 'goodbye' to Cordy. There were all ready so much going on and so many people in the finale and that final battle that I kind of feel Cordy's presence might have been overshadowed or there at the expanse of some other characters screentime.

Question: Was it because of the career of Charisma Carpenter if Cordy died in the show? Or was it a decision of Joss Whedon only?

Charisma got pregnant and Joss was unhappy that she didn't tell him right away (she has a good reason) so I guess he wrote her out of the show.

No. She should have been a huge part of S5. She should have not been pushed aside like she was a second rate character. She made the show for me and once she was gone the show didn't feel the same. I'm not saying the show was bad or something... But Cordy brought too much to not have an effect on it once she'd leave. 🙁

The last scene with her was obviously good, but just like you I thought that she should have been in the final scene of the show. In fact, Wes should have been there too. It was wrong that Spike who had been there for barely a season would be the one standing next to Angel in the end. And I'm a Spike fan!

Yup. Joss screwed fans because he was upset.

How can you be upset because one of your actresses is pregnant? I hope there's another explanation...'cause otherwise, nicely put by someone who writes all about woman empowerment!

It's been discussed a lot on the board. If you do a search you'll find a lot of threadds.

You know honestly, from the very first season I'm gonna have to say that I feel that Angel had another lay out than this. Watching Buffy you could expect the core four to be the ones still standing, side by side, just like from the start. But watching Angel I always felt was a different animal alltogether. First season, first half even, boom first soldier down... I always felt that set the tone of the show. The stakes were higher, none of them were safe basically... which is why I kind of like that Cordy and Wes weren't there at the end. Soldiers go down, that's what happens in battles, and yet the fight goes on... we always 'knew' that Angel was likely to outlive his gang and it's kind of tragic (but a good story telling kind of tragic) to see it start to play out that way

Yup that seems to be the prevailing theory. Charisma was pregnant - had a misscarriage - next time she got pregnant she didn't dare to tell anyone (because of the risk) until she was sure and when she did tell Joss about it, it seems that it messed up the plans he had for Angel season 4, thus making the whole Jasmine plot line necessary.

If that's the full and whole reason to why he wrote her out of the show however I guess we can't be certain of. But watching interviews etc with Charisma you can tell that there was bad feelings in how that whole situation went down :S She didn't seem to have been treated right at all truth be told.

Is this title spoiler proof for people who haven't watched cause I still know a few active members here who haven't got up to this season yet...I know Angel discussions get blocked but since this is filed in Charisma's is it still blocked for them?

People join to talk about the show still doesn't mean they should be spoiled..theres a rule section on it for a reason so maybe forums should be posted in the right sections next time
I didn't like Cordelia in Buffy but in Angel i loved her. I am upset she wasn't in the show until the end but at the same time i agree that the last episode with her in was brilliant but i still would have loved her to stay.

I am of the opinion that Cordelia is always a good character to have around, whether she's in her high school sassy bitca phase, or her higher being heroic chapter. Her character always adds depth and dimension to the show!

Cordy was my favourite character in Ats and NO, she shouldn't have died! She deserved so much better than being destroyed by that awful Jasmine storyline. And Joss should've had so much more respect for Charisma than to let that happen. Honestly, it upsets me so much that Cordy went out the way she did. You're welcome was a great episode, but it doesn't make up for ruining her character and not letting me have my Cangel ending! 🙂

I thought the way she went out in "You're Welcome" was beautiful and sad, but yes, I agree that she should have been there to fight at Angel's side in "Not Fade Away". It wasn't the same that Cordelia wasn't there with him... It felt odd to me that she wasn't there for the final battle.

If Cordy did fight by Angels side in nfa what would she have done? Walk into a room full of vamps(like Gunn) and make a snarky comment, and they'd all die? Some use she'd be. 🙂

Cordy had been training with Angel before she became a higher being... She wasn't as useless a fighter as she used to be. I'm not saying she would have made it through the battle, but it didn't feel right that she wasn't there.

I could see Angel having her back up Lorne and Lindsey. Maybe she would have even been the one to shoot Lindsey.

I love her goodbye in "Your welcome", it's beautiful and perfect... buuut if I got to choose then no, I would not want Cordy to have died there, I would rather have had her wake up from her coma and return or for it to have been left open, I can agree that it was a noble ending for her character and that it was better than just never mentioning her again but yeah, in the end I thought it was too soon for her to go.
