Do you think Dawn wanted to be a potential Slayer?

I don't remember it exactly, but I remember Dawn looking pretty disappointed that it was actually Amanda who was the Potential Slayer. Didn't she tear up a bit too? (Or does this happen too much that I'm just mistaking this?)
Dawn did want to be more than just a little kid. Being a Potential Slayer could change what others thought about her, maybe even treat her like an adult who can protect herself without the help of her sister.
So yeah, I think that Dawn wanted to be a Potential Slayer.

I think she did, but only because she wanted to be seen as more then the slayers little sister.
I think the reason she cried after xander's speech is not because she wasn't a potential slayer but because he had pretty much proved to her she didn't need to be, she was amazing anyway as she was.
We all know xander is and has always been the one in the group with no powers or all supernatural like and must have at one point felt like dawn was feeling, like the odd one out and stuff but xander stopped willow from ending the world without having powers, so i pretty much think that's what he was saying to her.
She didn't need to be a potential slayer because she was way more then that.

When she was battling the earth-creatures in "Grave" I felt so proud of her! I wished that the writers would have had Dawn emerge as a Slayer-in-training and would have been a fun way to develop that character beyond the tired I'm-an-annoying-kid-sister-who-always-needs-to-be-rescued-and-likes-to-scream-'get out, get out GET OUT!'

I think Dawn just wanted Buffy to look at her as special, and more than just her bratty kid sister. I felt sorry for Dawn, because it was painfully obvious that she just wanted to feel like she had some sort of purpose.

I agree with what most people have said already, Xander's speech definitely made her feel like she was an important part of the group already. Until then though, I do think she wanted to be a Potential.
I think while I was watching this season for the first time, part of me wanted her to be a Potential too. I felt quite sorry for her, being surrounded by all of these other girls her age who shared this special calling with her sister would hardly have been a self-esteem boost.

I think she wanted to be a Potential Slayer just so Buffy would pay attention to her. I think she was quite confident in her role as research girl. She could handle herself in a fight, as seen at the end of season 6. I think secretly she wouldnt have minded having some supernatural powers. Living in a world were you know about demons and can be constantly attacked by them, it would be easier.
