Do you think Gunn was a Hero?

This is coming from the "Is Xander a Hero too" thread, where people say Xander is one of the bravest Scoobies because he has no powers (which I agree with)

However I feel Gunn doesn't get the same amount of admiration even though he is under the same circumstances as Xander, which I never understood. When I think about it, Gunn should get just as much or more respect than Xander (this isn't a Gunn vs. Xander thread, just trying to compare the respect Gunn gets) because Gunn goes out with Angel and fights the biggest and baddest demons

So do you think Gunn is a Hero? Why don't more people bring up Gunn when talking about heroes?


P.S: Darkhorse, stop being stupid and put Gunn in season 9😀

I totally agree with you. I think that Gunn is overlooked a lot of times, and that is unfortunate. He's not my favorite character, but you have to give him mad props for stepping up and training himself from a young age to help fight the good fight. Gunn was a badass, for sure... I know I'd sure want him to have my back in a fight!

I absolutely love Gunn. I loved him from the beginning, and I loved him with Fred, and I loved his last line.

He was honorable, and almost always did the right thing. And you're right, he doesn't get enough love from the fans.

Gunn was killing vamps since he was 12 on his own without being talked into it so yes hes a hero in his own right cause he protected his sister atleast to the best of his ability along with his crew

Gunn is absolutely hero. I really enjoyed Gunn's character; I admired his determination, loyalty and willingness to work towards the greater picture. It's too bad he doesn't get more recognition.

YES!! I really liked Gunn from the first time he was introduced to us in AtS. I'm partway through S3 now, and I still love him! Aside from what has already been said, I just love his sense of humor. Life has jaded him, but he still loves his friends and is dedicated to the job.

I'm most definitely a fan of Gunn. He's a hero. Without a doubt.

He trained himself, and stood up for the people around him. He showed bravery and discipline and determination. He never stopped trying. I appreciate that in a character.

He made human errors & mistakes, but I like him.

Yes. Without a doubt. The thing with Fred was not his fault. He was trying to keep what was given to him to advance his work in the fight against evil.

What he did with his sister makes him beyond a hero. I could never do that to my brothers.

Gunn is a hero by any definition of the word (except maybe the sandwich) simply for the fact that he put himself willingly in harm's way to protect others. I didn't like the way IDW handled his character at all, but then, that could also be said for Nina, Connor, Kate, Illyria, Wes, and Lorne, and I wasn't particularly thrilled about their treatment of Spike or Angel, himself, at times. Maybe Dark Horse will do better by them all.
