Do you think Spike really intended to bite Willow?

Ok so I was watching the season four episode The Initiative yesterday and a thought crossed my mind that I had never considerd.

When spike escapes from the initiative and goes to buffy's dorm to find willow alone and tries to bite her but realises he can't because of the chip, Do you think he would have really killed her?

My thoughts on the subject are mixed and I can't make my mind up.


So guys, what are your thoughts?
 
This was prior to him realizing his feelings for Buffy I believe so I agree with Jodast that his intentions were to kill. He went for Buffy but found Willow instead so he took what he could get.
 
Totally, one hundred percent without a doubt.

Jeez, I'd forgotten about that scene. I'm laughing right now just thinking about it.
 
He totally would have killed her. I love that scene. I remember being horrified but then laughing really hard. How traumatizing that must have been for Willow...haha
 
Yes, of course he would have. He was a soulless vampire and Willow was friends with a slayer; why on earth would he not kill her if he had the chance?

Sure the writers played up the comedy in that scene but as far as Buffyverse vampire lore goes there is zero reason to think that Spike would have spared Willow.
 
He absolutely intended to bite and kill her... If he didn't, his chip wouldn't have activated. Didn't he say in one episode that if there's no intention to hurt the chip doesn't hurt him?

He would have done it in a wink. There's no doubt. At that time he was still the evil Spike that would have killed anyone, especially Buffy or the Scoobies who he hated back then.
 
It really amazes me how much some people on this Board hate Spike and will jump on the least little thing just to run him down a little bit more. How can you think that such a noble creature as this could ever even consider doing something so heinous to a helpless, terrified girl? You must think that he is some kind of monster or something. Kill Willow? And even offer/threaten to turn her after he did? That's just plain disgusting.

Unfortunately, it's also the plain, simple truth. At that point, Spike was still one of the bad guys, and that's the sort of thing that bad guys do. And I thought that the turning her part was sheer evil genius. I can't think of anything that would have hurt Buffy more than having to stake one of her closest friends.

But, but... [MENTION=6758]white avenger[/MENTION], how could you? Deep inside the fellow was always a knight in shining armor - looking for a damsel to protect. Gasp. even soulless, Spike's deep inside special snow-flakiness should have protected Willow from harm, on purely superficial level. He must have sensed her future Dark Willow-ness coming - and that's why he wanted to kill her, I tell you - for the greater good.

Now THAT'S an idea that I completely overlooked. Of course, you must be right. Even when Spike was evil, he was still trying to protect the world from future threats. Lucky for Ben that they never met back then, or Glory wouldn't have been as much as a a blip om Buffy's radar screen, not to mention, Dawn wouldn't have been around to be a pain in everybody's a**.

Even when Spike was bad, he was good. That's why he'll always be the greatest vampire who ever ... unlived.

A very interesting question. He would have 100% definitely feed on her but actually kill her, probably yeah. If he had realised his feelings for Buffy before that point then I reckon he wouldn't have hurt Willow due to wanting to stay on Buffy's good side. I agree with Jodast; we got one of the funniest moments ever!
 
I think that whatever we might believe about his intentions, it's clear that he did want at the very least to bite Willow, because the chip fired.

I mean we don't know it at the time but in FFL we discover that the chip only works when he intends to harm someone: if he's as much as pointing a weapon at someone with the intent to hurt him, it'll go off. If he punches or bites them, it will go off as he's about to.

So, yeah. Chip fired= intention there. Whether it was to kill, turn, or simply bite her, we don't know.
 
Oh yeah, he was out for blood & really pissed off. He would've killed her but thank the Powers That Be that didn't happen. 🙂
