I'm really looking forwards to it. I would love to see some more of Giles's background, and his life, not just his (redundant) role as a watcher.

I think it definately has potential.

I would love to see the show too! I think it's a great idea since it seemed sometimes that they didn't go into Giles' character enough on Buffy. ^_^ Ohhh I really hope that they show the series over here in the US of A 😉

Yes it's a good idea, if it ever gets off the ground. But knowing how slow the BBC works this could be a long time coming. How it might turn out is a question that does worry me, I'm not sure that Joss is as well versed in British culture as he sometimes seems to think. That being said, it can't be worse than some of the rubbish we have to put up with over here! 🙄

i think its a fab idea, giles is a cool character has kinda been ignored for the past few seasons in buffy, it would be good to see what hes upto now, and see the character in more depth, although like selig said it depends on how they develop the idea, come bbc get a move on ::evil1::

love angela 🙂

i agree with angela, he has been ignored for too long. only now and then ahs the 'Real' Gile ever come out (when he killed Ben & got physical with Ethan Rayne). it is a good idea to develop this character more. However a magickal series with Willow would also be kool 😀

I have 2 things I would like to say.

1) what does redundant mean? (i'm lazy and don't feel like looking it up

2) I completely agree with you about saying how you would like to see more about Giles and his life. The only episodes that are actually about him is probably the one where the demon him and his friends created comes back and the one where he turns into a demon. I think that the Ripper thing will be really great. I just hope that they show it in America because I heard that they wouldn't. They need to though because otherwise they are going to make me very sad! ::crying:: and then I will be even more sad ::crying2: and then I will feel real hot and be mad! ::fire::

THAT is a GREAT Idea!!

I didn't see this post earlier or else I would have added it with the one i just did but hey! more posts for me ::wave:: 😎 😛

But anyway! I completely agree that a magikal series w/ Willow would be completely cool. I think that Charmed and Buffy should have had crossovers. Both had to do w/ witches. But anyway, I just thought I would say that they should make a series w/ Willow.

If u think about it, pretty soon there won't be any of the original characters left but Buffy. Haha, 😀 😉 I don't know why but that iz funny 2 me!

Redundant means not needed anymore. Giles is redundant twice really in that he is no longer required by the watchers council after he helped Buffy in the test of her mental strength (can't recall the title of the episode 😕 ), and also in that Buffy doesn't really need a watcher anymore and he had been less involved since Buffy went to Uni (and of course, technically she isn't the active slayer anymore, so she shouldn't have a watcher anyway)

Hope that answers your question 😛

series for willow would be cool, lots of potential - but then like cece said there wouldnt be anyone left in btvs anymore 😀

one of my fave episodes of buffy was band candy cos giles and joyce were hilarious in it - it was good to see them having fun 😀

love angela 🙂

Same here Sweetpea! I'm totally looking forward to it, as it will be very different from both Angel and Buffy. From what i've heard its more about mysteries and ghost stories etc, as well as his past. Cant remember where i read that but will have a look.

I think its a damn good idea, but I think that I'd want to make sure that they don't do anything silly with it. I would hate for Tony to get his own show and then for it to flop...I would have to be sure that they had a really good premise first 🙂

I hope it goes into production soon...

Absolutely! I don't think Giles moved back to England just to lie in a flat, eat biscuits and sip Darjeeling. There's definitely potential storylines there. He's booksmart as hell, killed a good share of vampires & demons, and also was a former (if not the best) Watcher. If they did a spin-off series on him, it would make some possibilities for crossovers in the future with Buffy (after their final season) or even Angel.

Wait what???? Haven't heard anything about it??? Somebady please explain!!!!

Apparently there is going to be a spin off show based on Giles' life called either 'Ripper' (most likely title) or 'The Watcher'.

It is being made by the BBC and will consist of a traditional British drama series schedule (ie only 6 episodes... but it looks like they will be an hour each so that is good news)

I believ it has been delayed a bit by Joss's involvement with his new series Firefly, but last I heard it was being filmed this month to be screened in September, however how true that is I don't know as I would imaging ASH is pretty busy doing Buffy at the moment, unless he has got all his filming out of the way already.

The series is set in Britain and as mentioned before is meant to have more of a ghost/supernatural mystery slant to it... but I am hoping it delves a bit more into Giles's character 'cos I love him to bits.

Incidently, all this info I am just reeling off from memory and am not sure how much of it is actually verified as gospal truth, but they are definately doing a British Giles spin off as ASH has confirmed it in various interviews and on the British based Richard and Judy show.😀

I definately want the Ripper show to be made! I love Giles. IMO he is so incredibly sexy and I loved him in all the eps no matter how small a role he played though by far my fav was band candy. He was very yummy. I want to see more of that kinda stuff. I think ASH should definately do it if he's not gonna be on Buffy anymore. Maybe, it could be like him looking back on his youth or something.

*Takes off glasses, wipes and places back glasses* This news has me quite flumuxed, I cant believe i missed the richard and judy with him on. I so want this to happen, the best moment of season 6 and of all buffys was
Cocky willow: Noone has the power to stop me. BAM!
Giles (looking cooler than any other character ever): Id like to question that theory.
Sweet as, i rewound it over and over. Ripper is a great idea
