I am about to watch the Doctor Who Christmas special!! wish me luck :cheering: ^_^ Anyway, anyone else love Doctor who?

OMG I LOVE DOCTOR WHO! I've been waiting to find someone else who loves buffy AND doctor who!!!! yes! i really want to christmas special only it doesn't come out until april or something where i live! 🙁 but yes! BIG dr who fan here!!!😀

I like the show OK, in season one I mostly only like it because of the Doctor and Rose, most of the episode plots are fairly horrible (I hate the Aliens in London episode). I've seen a few from season two and three that I like, particularly "Blink" which I watched because of all the buzz, and I must say that episode was EXCELLENT. (Although, I thought the plot would've been better suited to a supernatural-themed show, like Buffy. But whatever.)

Blink was an awesome ep...it was really creepy eh?
Just watched the new Doctor Who ep!!

Spoilers:

"You've got Great France and Great Germany"

"Oh no It's just France and Germany. Only Britain is Great" 😀 haha

Bannakaffalatta was awesome!!!

This episode was surprising sad! So many people died  I was hoping for a twist at the end or something but there wasn't .

I thought he could have turned away, when she was falling, go through the day, then get the tardis and go back and save her as she falls  but he didn't

Anyways, Can't wait to see more 😀

Been a fan of the Doc on and off...

but since it came back a few seasons ago,it made my "try not to miss" list. Christopher Eccleston was a damned good Time Lord, but David Tennant's done a very able job.

Hell, stateside SciFi probably won't air it until...oh,I don't know...SUMMER? Canadians will probably be able to see the show in April.(Educated guesses on my part.)

BTW,looks like they rearranged the theme music again. Kept some of the Murray Gold parts, but tweaked it in a homage to the Peter Davison era. (There's loads of videos of the new sequence on YouTube.)

For more in-depth Who discussion, news etc. you could do worse than check out our sister board After Darkness, which has a dedicated Who forum. Just click on "Links" above and then "Affiliates".

BTW I liked "The Voyage of the Damned" a lot...as much as "The Runaway Bride" but not quite as much as "The Christmas Invasion"...in case anyone was interested. I'm not sure about the re-vamped theme yet though.

Longtime Who fans will try and bamboozle you with such things as the Blinovitch Limitation Effect to explain why Times Lords can't do that...personally (though I am a longtime fan) I'll point you towards the new season one ep Father's Day, which shows why quite neatly and it's a bloody good ep to boot 🙂

haha I don't know if it's that good , but I love it!! Still not sure about this new companion we see in the preview :s I liked the waitress!

The new assistant is Donna from the 2006 Christmas Special!!! Astrid got on my nerves a little!

Never fear,though...Martha will be back later in the season.

For now, though, you can catch her on Torchwood(Doctor Who's spinoff). THAT season starts unspooling stateside later this month.

Affirmative! Rose Is The One!!
OK, I really liked Voyage of the Damned but at the same time I was annoyed with it.

Firstly, there were alot of errors, including the best line of the show - I'm the Doctor, I'm a Time-Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I'm 903 years old and i'm the man who is going to save your lives and all 6 billion people on the planet below...you got a problem with that?

Its a great line but it's inconsistent with the WHOLE of Doctor Who.

I think people forget that this was supposed to be Doctor Who does Disaster Movies which, if you look at Titanic, Poseidon Adventure et al, good people do die and in extreme ways.

I did have issue with Kylies death - who by the way I think did an excellent job and I was genuinely upset when she died - why didn't she just jump out of the truck before it went over?

I think that there were alot of flaws in the script and one could wonder if that was intentional as it was Dr does Disaster(as it's rare that a script is awesome) but I don't think that could be an argument.
Fact is we expect alot from the Doctor and when it's parodying something, it shouldn't drop its standards and say its a cultural pastiche, it should raise the issues and show how it could be done.

Alot of people including one of my LJ freinds who is a who addivct didn't like it, I can understand why. But I loved it, ok it wasn't brillaint and the plotline
was abit meh I mean I thought all of it was a an insurance scam!

But the best line "I'm the Doctor, I'm a Time-Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I'm 903 years old and i'm the man who is going to save your lives and all 6 billion people on the planet below...you got a problem with that?"
Is inconsistant with who how?

I agree Astrid could of Jumped off but this is RTD we're talking about, if he just want's to kill someone off he will find a reason regardless!
I wasn't sure how the cyborg prejudice related to Gay agenda's as people implied. Which basically what it highlighted, being different and societys attitude to it, which was a little weak!

The Doctors age makes no sense.
And it's also not like the Doctor to make such a promise and be so 'I am going to save the day' that was odd.

The line from Kylie when Bannakaffalatta was recharging along the lines of 'Cyborg rights have come along way on Sto, you can even get married now' or something similar - thats your gay link being the UK has recently made it legal for civil ceremonies between two members of the same sex

Ahh the age bit.
The Dr always lied about his age, fact. The Gay link I get now, it was very subtle! I must confess I watched it with my brother-in-law's Tennant/Kylie smutt inuendo. So missed a few lines grrr! Luckilly I recorded it so I can rewatch it again, when I have time.

There were a lot of lines I liked ^_^ that was one of em, but the other two were

"You've got Great France and Great Germany?"
"Oh no It's just France and Germany. Only Britain is Great" lol...

and when the Doctor asks Bannakaffalatta if he can call him something shorter and he like "NO! Bannakaffalatta" :lmao:

This episode was definitely very different well I thought, idk, so many people were killed! I guess you can say that about most eps... but this episode just seemed more  cause I hoped a few of the ones I liked would live 😛

I wish I knew! I had to watch it on the net because it doesn't come out on Australian television for AGES!!!!!
