Whenever I like a guy, I suddenly turn into a total dweeb around them for no reason. I can't have a normal conversation anymore (lots of silence gaps, or me just talking nonsense completely out of context), I start mocking them and critisising everything they do, and I kinda become all omnipresent, turning up everywhere they are, probably annoying the hell out of them.

Am I alone with this? Am I cursed for life?

This is just getting sooo annoying, it's like I wanna make sure they don't like me.

I am like that too sometimes.. just not with guys. But I am usually so cool and hip that when I do, it's kinda cute, but when you do it you are just a dweeb.

Oh you are so not alone! Whenever I like a guy, I tend to say a lot of stupid stuff and to act different, more like a 'normal' person, but when a weirdo like me tries to act like a cool hype normal person, it is just extra-weird, and I look very stupid and I'm very loud and I try to get the attention of the guy and I keep on looking in his direction just to see if I catch his look and and the guys are left with a feeling of "Damned that girl is stupid".

On the other hand, when I'm not attracted by a boy, it's awesome because I'm myself because I don't try to get him to like because I'm not sexually interested in him.

(Pfuuu, that was a message full of "and" and "because")

oh man you're definitely not alone. I tend to the the exact same thing. It's like I crave attention, and if I don't get it, I get upset. I start to stalk them and it's quite scary...ok not really, not a real stalker people!!!

I know how ya feel though. I think most people would agree with you that when we like someone, we tend to be the complete opposite of who we want to be. Luckily, I have been able to control myself!

haha, don't we all love 🙂 I'm not the girliest of girls (no, I'm not a total klutz), so the whole eye contact/sweet smile/delicate blush thing doesn't really work for me. When I fancy someone, I'm much more likely to challenge them to a burping contest or a beer drinking competition and invite them over to watch zombie movies, so mostly I end up in the "just friends" category. Ironically though, I have been told that I flirt quite shamelessly with people that I want to be just friends with, which usually leads to no end of confusion...

Not me! I think I stay pretty cool. I might start babbling occasionally, though. 😉

Would you keep your cool in front of Dally? ;)
I'm so not like that. My problem always was I'd hide everything away so the person didn't have any inkling we were more than friends or acquaintances.

Umm.... I sometimes talk too much (hard to believe!). But I had a blind date once, and the guy wouldn't stop talking! About himself only! And I'd just had to pretend to be interested in what he was saying, ask questions, laugh... It's not the same kind of too much talking. Me, at least, talk about other things than me. I wasn't even interested in him, I was just being polite, 'cause a friend set us up. The truth is, I like being by myself. So to me, destroying a potential good date, isn't that horrible.

I never had this problem... I used to go into Willow-mode in high school where I wouldn't be able to talk at all around them.
I don't know. I think everyone comes into their own in different ways and different times. By the time I went to college, I was a lot more comfortable flirting with guys I liked. I think you just have to learn to be comfortable in your sexuality.

I am a very shy person, I have problems talking to anyone really even girls. I'm 22 years old and have been that way since well... probably since i was like 10. Before that I would go up to new people and just chat away... I am worse with guys, I can't talk, i blush too much and honestly i'm amazed i'm engaged. If it weren't for the guy doing the talking I don't think i would have ever had a boyfriend even. I am generally fine after a while I get my head and voice back but still its aweful.

I do the weird popping up thing and I have noticed it can come across as creepy or maybe I feel like I pop up to much.
My problem is I come off not interested at all apparently. My friends always say no one can tell with you. I guess because I can have the same attitude towards situations. Or I just talk a lot and about nothing in general or something they don't care about. Your not alone.

I really thought the OP was going to quote Willow: "Well, when I'm with a boy I like, it's hard for me to say anything cool, or witty, or at all. I can usually make a few vowel sounds, and then I have to go away."
