i know this nothing to do about buffy. But just wondering if anyone likes chnarmed as well cos i have always like buffy and angel and charmed.

First of all, stop talking about Phoebe's stories, Alyssa's bad acting, and her...you know. I agree with you on all of that, except the last part.

But Holly and Rose did not suck at all. I love Charmed, by the way.
 
i like Charmed, i'll admit that.
but i do have to agree with all of the arguments made last time we did this.
the bad acting, the stolen storylines (a lot from BTVS, by the way) and the reused storylines, the bad continuity.
it's like the writers didn't think the fans of the show were smart enough to realize that they were contridicting themseves.
i think, out of everything, continuity was what let this show down.

Looking at the calibre of Charmed fan here, with VERY few exceptions, the writers would have been right about the fans not being smart enough;)
Back when I got into Angel, it was due to TNT repeats. After Angel, Charmed was on. So eventually I started this thing where EVERY single day after school I'd come home and watch Angel and Charmed. I never loved Charmed, but I didn't think it was terrible. After a while I realized how lame it was. I mean, I love the idea behind it. It did have tons of potential. And now and then it managed to churn out a great episode. But most of the time the acting was completely fake, the writing was bad, the show tried mimicking the style of Buffy and Angel with the humor mixed in with the drama - they failed terribly, they weren't funny, just stupid -, and their demons were pathetic. Sure, Buffy has unrealistic rubber demons but I'll take that over guys with makeup caked onto their face - Cole's demon side or whatever you called it was utterly ridiculous.

I did really like the pilot, though.
 
I had the same situation. It was always on at like, 3 and 4. I was always working in my classroom and so I had it on, just for background noise. It never really was my favorite thing, but I just watched it because. I've now actually seen them all, but I prefer other things over it. It was just entertainment.
 
Charmed began well. Seasons one and two are actually quite watchable.

One of the few occasions were a show would have been better of getting axed after it's second year...

I always viewed Charmed as a bit of escapism, never took it seriously, it was just light-hearted entertainment. I watched all of the seasons, and I never really thought the show took itself seriously either...

I'm not knocking the show, I just enjoyed it for what it was. The best thing about the whole series was Holly Marie Combs. 🙂

It was never on the same wavelength as Buffy or Angel, and I truly doubt any show in the near future will be either. They are in leagues of their own. 😉

There may well have been bad acting in Charmed, but I still liked watching it 'lol'
 
I love Charmed too! I prefer the first 3 seasons to the others but to be honest I still watched all of the Seasons. I agree that Alyssa was annoying and considering when I first started watching Charmed I loved Phoebe the most, I grew to hate her around the time that Shannen left.

Exactly how I felt about charmed. The only thing is I really started to hate it towards the end because of all it's unused potential, it could have been really good!

An acting wise, I thought Holly was it's saveing grace, the others were shit!

That's a large part of the reason I hate it. It could have truly been great but it never aspired to be more than something for preteen girls. And also, I'd like to know why they started dressing the girls up more and more like sluts or something...were they trying to attract preteen boys too? I mean, in one episode Phoebe was hardly wearing hardly anything and walking around...the main reason it bothers me is because more focus seems to be on wardrobe than anything else.
 
i'm with edb and BEG on this. the reasons they spelt out are the exact reasons i watched this show...for a bit of light entertainment that didn't require actually thinking about the plot to enjoy it. i had Buffy and Angel for that.
may fave season of Charmed is actually season 6...but that might be because of Drew Fuller...lol
 
See, I'm really fussy about what I watch, mainly because I'm really limited in the time I have to watch television. If I'm going to watch a show it has to really be good and hold my attention or it gets dropped.

Charmed started out being good television but gradually, for me at least, it became the sort of show where you felt that the writers were willing to use any old cliche to further the plot, regardless of quality or any idea about how they would conclude the idea. The mermaid thing springs to mind (yeah, I did follow the show even after I stopped watching it regularly. 😉).

By the end it was a shadow of it's former self and frankly it was on the air for at least two seasons longer than it had any right to be. Shannon definately knew when the time was right to jump ship.
 
i perferred Paige to Prue, but that's really not the point of my post.

like i said, my fave season of Charmed was 6, and while i was watching it when it first aired, i had no internet connection or anything to read spoilers and stuff, but i actually thought that season 6 was going to be the last season. maybe this is just my weird mind at work, but S6 to be just had a strange end of the run feeling to it. and i would have been quite happy to have it end there, 'cause really, there's nothing in 7 and 8 that i thought were required viewing.

Hey you're right, season six DID have an "the end is near" feel. That was the second season I saw when I was watching TNT repeats. I did like it somewhat, much better than all the other post season 3 seasons.

Speaking of Drew Fuller, what was the girl's name who played his girlfriend in the future? She was sooo damn sexy.
