Personally I would love to see a spin off made but perhaps in another time period and without any original cast members.
Question Does anyone think there is a possibility of a new TV series within the Buffyverse?

The thing is, I think the characters as we know them are very important to the show. JW's shows have always ben character driven, and we love the characters he's created.
Of course he could make a new Buffyverse show with completely new characters and we'd all get to know and to love them, but it wouldn't really feel the same, would it?
And the problem is, the old cast is getting older and older, and the possiblity that any single one of them is willing to carry on the Buffyverse is getting slimmer and slimmer.
Though a prequel would in fact sound really cool! Maybe with some cool guest appearances of our favouite fang gang, or some familiar demon snouts.

I think the best chance (and maybe the only remaining chance) for more Buffyverse on TV is the "Ripper" concept dealing with Giles.
If it were up to me, I'd do it like this:
* Make it a miniseries... 6 to 8 hour-long episodes.
* Make it in Britain. (BBC Wales would be perfect). Fox would have to sign off on this, of course.
* The plot would deal with Giles's young life coming back to haunt him (but not just a re-hash of "The Dark Age"). The action would shift back and forth from present-day Giles (played by ASH) to his teenage 70's sorcerer-punk self.
* Present-day segments would be set after season 7, but before the season 8 comics to avoid conflicts.
* I'd love to see Judi Dench cast as Edna Fairweather-Giles (Rupert's grandmother), who was head of the Watchers' Council.
* Possible cameos by Buffy actors (Tom Lenk? Nick Brendon? Eliza Dushku? Robin Sachs?)

Without.. any.. original.. cast? *shocks* I don't want to see one of my fav characters playing by someone else.
I agree with Andrew on Ripper, I think a mini-series (as was the original plan with the project) would be a nice move. I also agree with Kris though, I think I'd enjoy prequel, but in mini-series form again. Lets say eight episodes dealing with Buffy from sometime after we saw her crying in her bathroom mirror till her move to Sunnydale. It would be nice to get a definite origin story since the movie and the comic leave alot up in the air.

I'm not really intrested in Ripper, it didn't sound exciting to me.
I like the idea of a prequel mini-series.
I think Tales of the Slayer would have made a cool series, or a kinda Slayer School series with a gang of new recruits being trained in a compound, a cameo from the originals could come into it.

I'm still hoping for something to fill in the gap between the end of Season 7 and the beginning of Season 8, though, obviously, it wouldn't be in a live action format. Maybe an animated miniseries would be workable. For a live series or miniseries, Fray would be good, or, barring that, a group of new Slayers set up like a Special Assault Team, traveling all over the country, handling demonic problems too big for the various local Slayer teams.

After S7 ended there were possibilities for something called maybe "Adventures of the Slayers", now that we learned that there could be many more than one. How about that Hellmouth in Cleveland that was mentioned-there were definitely loose ends that could have been picked up. Some of the old cast, some new people.
As for prequels,it would be great to have something bridging the gap between the movie, and the move to Sunnydale. Anyone who has not seen the movie( which is nothing nearly as good as the TV series) would have little idea about what happened and why Buffy is the slayer.A mini-series, leadding up to where the nerw series picks up would be a good concept.

I just noticed on Wikipedia on Anthony Head's page that it has "Ripper" listed as in pre production 2010, though I can't find anything on the BBC's website about it so wether or not it's in production who knows. Hope so!
Awesome!!! Hopefully this does happen. I would love to watch a Buffyverse series in real time haha =P
