Does Buffy (the show) attract a lot of people suffering serious confidence problems?

Well, I was about ten years old when I started watching the show and by then I had already gone through quite alot in my life, so I had very low self esteem and as you said a serious confidence problem, but watching the show was an escape for me and it made me feel like even the most unlike of people could be extraordinary, it gave me role models, and hope. So I don't know if the show only attracts people with confidence issues, but if it does I don't see that as a bad thing, cause in my case the show helped me discover and bring out the confidence that I do have, and for that I'll always be grateful...

(End of sappy rant.)

I don't know why people are assuming it is a bad thing, as your story shows it's the opposite if Buffy can help people gain confidence.
Maybeh

Maybeh...

But i think a lot of shows do that, not just Buffy. I love watching the show...I watch it when im down or when i just feel like watching it:3 But it's more fun to watch it with my best friend^.^

-'inserting these things into random threads on occasion' Okaaay i havn't seen that...yet? But that sounds like a needy cry for help o.o or just a sad cry for attention>.>

About people on this board "oversharing".... I don't think that's a problem. Most of the people who give out a lot of details about their personal lives do so because we've been here a long time and this board feels like our online safe-haven. I don't know; maybe I'm speaking for myself in that I feel like BB is sort of like an online home to me. I spend so much time posting here and talking with the other members that I feel comfortable to share some details about my personal life.
MOST of the things people tell on this board are things that the people closest to them already know anyway, so it's not a big deal if it gets "out", so to speak. But there are some things here that people have told that are probably very private parts of these peoples' lives, and I feel priveledged to know that the members here feel so comfortable with the rest of us to share it.

I wouldn't call it a problem either but sadly there's always exceptions so one need to be careful. It's often easier to share with a "stranger" and even easier with a stranger you know. So to speak. I'm sure we've had more than a few members during the years regretting some of the things they've said or done to/with other members (not meaning it happened on the actual boards). But I too would call bb an online home and I tell some members more than I would my real life friends. I like it and wouldn't want it to stop but to from time to time think about what you say and to who isn't a bad idea.

That was off topic. Sorry about that.

I see where you are coming from. This show attracts a different crowd than Gossip Girl (for the most part.... I mean, I've watched Gossip Girl now and then, but its not the same as Buffy). I'm pretty comfortable with who i am and how I look, but I definitely understand and relate to the awkward, weird, dark side of life a lot just because I feel like that is such a huge part of being human. We all go through life's ups and downs and Buffy depicts it in a way that really resonates with people.

If you look at an episode like The Body, it is so real and I can relate to that. I see things in those characters that are exactly like reality. Willow looking for her blue sweater is so close to a moment I watched someone in real life go though after someone died. Being frozen and confused like those characters are is so real.

Even in lesser moments, everyone can relate to a feeling of insecurity now and then. Xander is afraid he'll turn out like his parents or never be successful, Anya is afraid of what happens when she gets old, Willow struggles with an addiction, Buffy has sex and her relationship goes to hell, and all of them just started out as teenagers simply trying to survive high school. High School seems like everything when you are in it%2
