Does Cordy get stronger?

As I said in my welcome post, I've never watched Angel and I have just got the DVD now. I saw in a trailer she got elbowed (I think) by Faith. Does Cordy get stronger as time goes by on the show? Or does she stick with her role in Buffy (the damsel in distress role)?
 
She definitely becomes stronger. She's becomes a hero. One of my favorite characters on Angel. I highly recommend you watch it. 🙂

I really need to haha. The DVD came in the post this morning so I'm just gonna finish re-watching S3 of Buffy then I'll watch Angel and S4 of Buffy together (I found a site which explains the best way to watch it with the cross overs lol). 🙂

Yeah, I heard that's a cool way to watch. I didn't watch AtS until I finished BtVS, lol!

That's how I did it this time around too- it was awesome!
She does get a LOT stronger, I didn't much care for her in Buffy, but I seriously LOVE Cordy on Angel <3 It makes me so happy how much she grows as a person, as stated above, emotionally and physically.
 
She gets a lot stronger, but I am one of the few who don't like her transformation... I mean I love her getting stronger, but the character she ends as is TOTALLY not the Cordy I loved in seasons 1-3 of Buffy.

I think it's more as StarSlayer says it, they grow her character, you can definitely see the Cordy from Buffy, but she grows up alot from where she starts out, but that makes her one of the more believable transformations, cuz you can see the changes as they happen and it's believable.

I do not like how Cordy grows on Ats, yes she gets stronger and all that but I prefer the Cordy season 1-3 on Buffy, she's a lot more interesting there, and don't even get me started on the hair cos wtf was that about! it was like Samson or something, the more hair that she got rid of the more her personality disappeared..

Ya know, I've thought of Cordy as A LOT of different things over the years, but I've almost NEVER thought of her as any kind of "damsel in distress." Or not the kind that you are implying, anyway. Not even on Buffy, because in my opinion, she's always been strong, charismatic, and often times stubborn as all get out and I think that's part of why I love her so much.

Yeah, she was scared and a little oblivious to the whole "things that go bump in the night" but I feel like that's more in part due to the writing, than Cordy herself actually. I'm sure there are people lining up to argue with me and to counter just about everything I've said thus far, let me just remind you once more, it's just *my* humble opinion okay.

Also, it's not necessarily that they change her character, but it's more like StarSlayer was pointing out - she grows as a person and gets more depth and layers added. It's really a beautiful thing to watch, if you like the character. Some do and some don't, it's fine. But I definitely wouldn't let those who don't like the character or her growth, steer you away from watching. Just...see for yourself BEFORE you make any decisions.

In short, I love this character as she's my very FAVORITE character in Whedonverse in general, and I'm always going to write love letters about her to anyone who's willing to listen. You don't have to my word or anyone else's into consideration for that matter, because all YOU need to do is watch it for YOURSELF and then YOU'LL see whether or not YOU like it. You don't need anyone else to tell you that you will or you won't. 🙂

LOL! I meant that she seemed to always get caught or kidnapped in the earlier episodes of Buffy lol, that's what I meant by damsel in distress hehe 🙂

Well, so does Willow and Xander, I mean they're all in danger at some point or caught or kidnapped and then there's the ep where both Buffy and Cordy are caught and kidnapped. That doesn't necessarily mean "damsel in distress." I mean, I don't think so in that sense. 😉
 
Did you like Cordy in Seasons 1-3 of BtVS? I find that even if people didn't like her on BtVS, they LOVED her by AtS. Generally speaking, of course, since there are some people who don't feel that way or even feel the opposite.

Personally, I wasn't a *huge* fan of her at first on BtVS (I've seen the light now though! 😉) and then on AtS I fell hard for Cordy. She's just amazing and I love her. I'd avoid spoilers though if you're gonna be posting on the BB, lol! 😉
 
Cordy went through a transformation that I don't think we ever gotta see the Scoobies complete...she grew up..and out...ZING!

Yeah I loved her in the first 3 seasons of Buffy 🙂.
 
Oh my god! You cannot not watch Angel. She is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G in it! I wasn't her biggest fan when I first watched BtVS, but in Angel I just loved her. Such a great character. One of my favs in fiction. 🙂 And yes, she becomes stronger, if you mean physically. I won't go into details, but there are improvements. But mainly she matures A LOT, and that without losing her usual directness. 😉 I'm sure you'll love her character even more after watching the show. GO!
