Does God exist...

waylander is smart...

i believe eistein...believed that there was an afterlife....he probably believed in much more to...

and world dominating religions were made to control people... most of the bible is about rules and laws about life....like not eating unclean animals and shit...

but like i said...find your own relationship to the divine...something that feels right...better than atheists that feel nothing that is divine...

I agree Soulgasm...alot of people believe that to believe in God means you must be religious. That is not necessarily true. You can have both, but you can also believe in God and not believe in an organized religion...😀 Like me!

totally right jacklyn...

i am a christian...but i don't go to church...i rely on my gut feelings and ideas...

the church does allot of good....but they've messed up the word of God in the bible...they manipulate the words jesus spoke...which is wrong...

and the church also wastes so much money...
sometimes...the churches around here seem like they're using the practice of indulgences...like if you give enough money...good will come upon you....completely bull shit....

I actually went to a church once, where they actually told little kids, "Show God how much you love him" and then, handed them the collection plate. When you see little kids digging in their pockets for spare change so they won't go to hell, you begin to become disgusted with organized religions.

Not saying all churches are like that, but that sure disillusioned me!

all churches aren't like that...but most of em are...which is the gayest thing of all...

gay isn't old english for strange, as far as I know? Well I haven't come across it in Chaucer, Shakespeare, or anything else in 8 years studying English literature an Language ???

Feel like I've got to come to the defence of atheists and/or agnostics here, as I seem to be about the only one present. Don't get me wrong, I'm more likely to believe in pantheism; that the universe is God (from dictionary.com) The doctrine that the universe, taken or conceived of as a whole, is God; the doctrine that there is no God but the combined force and laws which are manifested in the existing universe; cosmotheism. But I still find it hard to believe in any sort of divine being which can create an entire universe, and then leave the races to screw it up; any being that can do that doens't seem like a loving god to me. Maybe I'm just jaded; but I would believe more in a sort of Loki; a trickster god who enjoys the suffering of people.

I don't wish to upset anyone with this; and I don't think i'm some sort of victim who's bitter at the world; I just find the concept of a divine creature, and all the nasties in the world hard to reconcile.

there is freewill...call it what you will...harsh...suffering...spiteful...

but its freedom...freedom can be ugly sometimes...

i hate it when people say if God were such a good God...why does he let bad stuff happen...

he stops major bad stuff from happening...if he/she were to stop everything...it be ridiculous...there'd be no free will..

Well I guess I see it in terms of an omnipotent god, controlling destiny and all, and a reluctance to place trust in a body which is unrevealed; if you can't trust people and their free will; how can you trust something that could allow things like child abuse and war to happen?

My theory on this is that there is a force, a driving force that leads things to be the way they are. Maybe not in the form of an all-powerful being, but some kind of force.

To me, there are too many coincidences in life that cannot be explained by science and when you look back at how the first living organisms were created, there's alot of "This cell combined with that cell", but there's not a whole lot of "Why did those two cells just happen to meet up?"

So to me it just feels like there is a controlling factor to some extent.

sorry, reasons for the first live on earth is very clear, no coincidence at all, better dive back into the biology books 😉

You know what God does....

every bad situation...has a silver lining...

it is often the coldest before dawn...but one most go through the coldest part to reach the light...(I sound like caleb..lol)

every person that was abused as a child has a choice as they become parents themselves...they can follow the set path...or they can give the finger to the path and form their own WILL

i know by experience...that i'll never ever hit my child in an abusive manner(training is ok)...that is the choice I make because of the abuse i suffered...

whatever doesn't kill you or cripple you, makes you stronger...

Maybe; but that's why I believe that there cannot be a god; surely a holy being would have seen when my father beat my mum and I down, yet it was *us* that stopped it, *us* that got out, and it's why I try to do something better now; to help victims of crimes like I suffered as a child. I appealed to any being there was in the first ten years of my life; to help, to stop what was happening, and ultimately, nothing came. I've seen the power of free will in the fists of my father; gods have nothing to do with that sort of evil, and if they can't sway that sort of power, what's their use?

Oh yeah, and I know I'm bitter and twisted 😀

"to live is to suffer...but to survive...well...that's to find the meaning in the suffering"=DMX

being bitter and twisted is nothing to brag about...

You have to let go of that shit...or else you'll be its bitch...

if I did....you can...and i'm a pretty unforgiving person...

you put the blame on the wrong forces as well...this is hell...evil's domain...place your blame on the evil in the world...place the blame on your teachers at school who didn't suspect a thing eventhough you showed up with bruises to class...

once you blame the right people...accept your lot...and falkin live...you are not your past...

Oh believe me, I've dealt with it; and he's had his just desserts, which I won't go into. But there's no one to balme but him himself; he hit where it would hurt but not show, he did it all, and no one knew. But god is not hte answer for me; proving myself is. I guess everyone has their own way of living with it; yours may be to believe in god; mine is to believe in myself above anything else; it's my fuel for living, to never repeat what's happened.

Oh and bitter and twisted was a sarcy joke.....then again..... 😉

Anyway, less of the traumatic stuff; back to the subject 😀

God isn't something that can be proven...nor refuted...

its something ya gotta feel...he/she isn't found in a place but rather a state of mind...

i'm surprised theres only wicc/christ/and atheist....no mus or other ideas...probably cause these are the ideas that run rampant in the west...

all churches aren't like that...but most of em are...which is the gayest thing of all...

Garbage, if you think that then you need to check out a few more churches, or you've been hella unlucky 🙁

An interesting point I think, is that ppl always use the "If God is a God of love then why does *insert bad stuff here* happen?"
So if God exists then it's his fault that bad stuff happens, and yet no one seems to think that maybe it's God's doing when positive stuff happens.

Willow>> I don't dare presume to lecture you. I don't know anything about the stuff you've been through so I've got no authority to comment on it, but please hear me out;
you say
I try to do something better now; to help victims of crimes like I suffered as a child.
I think that's awesome, instead of just dealing with it internally you decided to get out and do something about it. And because you've been through those things I think you can bring an understanding and sensitivity to the situation that someone like me never could. Through terrible, terrible things you have come across an opportunity to help people in a way many of us can't.
Surely that shows to an extent that God's love can work through the worst of situations?
Just my thoughts...

Firstly thank you for not lecturing me; I've had bad experiences with devoutly religious girls at my school trying to, shall we say, "impress" upon me, what I should be doing according to their beliefs 🙂

You've got a good point (and feel free to carry on saying good stuff about me, feeds my ego no end 😀 ) and to someone who is religious, as opposed to someone like me, who feels there may be something, but doesn't act upon it, it may appear that it is God's love acting. I just don't view of it in that sort of light. I spent 5 years studying different religions, as a subject in school; for GCSE I studied Judaism and Islam, and my flatmate is doing a philosophy joint honours at uni; so I'm aware of a lot of different opinions, and viewpoints; but nothing I've read or seen has ever appealed to me on a more personal level. Like I said before; I feel pantheism has it nailed, and the only way I show anything for this, is by living my life accrding to my morals and beliefs, but not by following any set religion or practice. I guess I just live my life the way I see fit, and that's enough for me🙂

Maybe God dwells inside us........😱

I saw an interesting program on the BBC about people with religious fervour and the effect it has on their brain, according to some scientists a part of the brain if stimulated could induce someone to 'feel' the fervour, wasn't conclusive though..........::wave::
