In 'I Robot, You Jane', Buffy says: You've been seeing a guy and you don't know what he looks like. Okay, it's a puzzle. No wait, I'm good at these. Does it involve a midget and a block of ice? What is this a reference to? I never understood it.
The midget and the block of ice refers to a classic Irish limerick that dates back centuries. In fact, it's even more famous than the one about the friar and the bell tower.
In other words, it doesn't make any real sense at all, pretty much the same as "seeing" someone but not knowing what they look like.
