Does spike really love Buffy?

Im not sure if this has already been brought up before but i was wondering do you think Spike only fell in love with Buffy after he had the chip in his head as thats when it all started (as far as i can remember) Maybe it was just the chip that made him think he loved Buffy.
What do you think?
 
I think he really loved her- since season 5,....well,maybe since s6,in s5 he seemed to be obssessed with her not truely in love.
I don't think the chip made him think he loved her,I think he really did.
but I guess a spuffy should answer your question I'm not good with spuffy issues
 
Oh no I definately think that he loves her. Of course in the beginning some people thought he only loves her b/c of the chip maybe or b/c she was something that he couldn't have and he liked the whole hard to get thing. But after seeing season 7 when he was chipless and had a soul it is really proven that he loves her. The whole speech in Touched really tells it all: "A hundred plus years, only one thing I've ever been sure of. You." "I'm not asking you for anything. When I tell you that I love you, it's not because I want you, or 'cause I can't have you -- it has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try... I've seen your strength, and your kindness, I've seen the best and the worst of you and I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You are a hell of a woman." These words in particular show his love for her. So yea I really do think that he loves her, she may not love him, but he doesn't care about anyone more than her.
 
I should be reading this thread!...why did he have to sound soooo sweet in Touched?!,..hear,well read that makes me feel bad,buffy is such a bitch,poor spike!,..he is sweet,has a soul and is hot,...poor guy,how can she not love him?!,I know I would
Back on topic,yeah,you're right Spikesgurl235,he really loved(s) her,...after seeing s7 you can tell he was absoultely in love with her,she is his one true love
 
I thought for some reason that when he got his soul back that the chip was still there as well, because it was the chip that he wanted to get rid of but he got his soul back instead. i do believe that he loved her but i just thought it was because of the chip it just seemed weird that one day he has this dream then the next minute he loves her???
I am a spuffy fan but then im also a Bangel fan (is that possible)...

Yes, you are a very rare breed... 😛

I don't think he loved her until season 7. He was pretty much obsessed with her before that as he was with a lot of the slayers. The chip just led it in a sexual direction instead of a physical (fight/kill) one.
 
Yea I kinda got a lil off topic b/c your question was more about the chip. But in the beginning(s5 when we first find out he loves her) the writers made you think that it was only b/c of the chip. In 'Out of my Mind' he wakes up and says God, no. Please no!.
This makes you think that he hates the idea and he doesn't want to feel that way. He also says from time to time how it is the chip thats making him feel that way. so I think they wanted you to think that,but like I said season 7 really changed many peoples opinions about their relationship.
And to answer your question about being a spuffy and a bangel it is very possible! Don't worry you're not alone! I love Spuffy, but I also think bangel is great 🙂
 
Thats ok spikesgurl235 it was kinda nice to hear that speech again and Magui is right Buffy is a bitch for treating Spike the way she did...

But anyway back on topic...Yeah i suppose in the end he did really love her (ahhh bless) but i think it was the chip in the beginning as it messed his mind up so basically i agree with you.

and im glad im not the only one who loves Bangelspuff ! 🙂
 
Bangelspuffy...what about Sbangel?...I am a bangel,I really don't know why I'm posting here 😛,..I guess it is because Buffy was sooo bad and Spike was so sweet with her,she doesn't deserve him,..poor SPikey
 
at least Magui is one of those Bangel fans who can sympathize with the other side. I think he really did love her all the way from season five until the end, he always will. He gave up so much for her and she treated him like crap, and yet he still loves her.
 
I'm not a Spuffy, yet I think he really does love her. I just don't think the feeling is mutual, and I felt kinda bad for him in Chosen. But its better that he knew, so maybe he could move on with his life and find someone that actually deserves him.
 
Joss's feeling is that Spike has always been in love with Buffy, but didn't notice it till S5 (thus, the 1998 flashback of him and Dru in "Fool for Love"). I agree with that. He really and truely loves her and is *in* love with her. She doesn't lovehim in that way back, but that's beside the point.
 
poor Spike!🙁,...okay,I have to stop reading this!😛,...it makes me feel bad...Spikey is one of my fav characters,I don't want him to be in pain because of that b*tch!

When buffy is with angel i dont hate 'er,..she isnt bad with him...but when she is with spike i just want to kill her,poor spike,he probably feels alone now,he needs smoochies,i'm a voluntary to go with him!
He really loves her,but she doesn't deserve his love,he should move on an be happy with another girl...or he could kill buffy and end up with angel 😛
 
Yes he does/did really love her, but unfortunatly for him, it's not a mutual thing. I hope he moves on, to Angel preferably!
 
I've always said Angel and Spike are meant to be together......Did he love Buffy though??Maybe it was just an obsession.....A kind of 'stalker-stalkee' mutual attraction thing......Hell!!I don't know!!😛
 
Well, bvamps can feel and he really and truly tried to do good for Buffy. He doesn't want to save the world or get a tortured soul... he did it all for her. I think this was way more than just an obsession... He loved her.
