Does the board close down periodically?

I am pretty new here and the recent closure came as an unwelcome shock. I found myself checking a couple of times a day, as I have quickly become very dependent on reading the threads here to keep my Buffymind calm. So, does this happen from time to time for maintenance reasons or was that an anomaly? Just trying to be prepared. As a newbie to this whole 'verse, I'd hate to get too attached to something that is going to go away...
 
The closure last month was not a regular occurrence, that's actually the longest that the board has been down before (as far as I can recall, anyway).

There may be the odd time when the board's down a couple hours for maintenance reasons, but otherwise you won't have to worry about the boards being offline. Typically it's a rare event, and Buffy Summers does her best to get us back online as quickly as possible 🙂
 
I agree, there was a lot of talk saying that the board might not open again.
I had just become a member and within a week or two it was closed.
 
I have been through this procedure too. It says sth about maintenance I think. "Bandwidth limit exceeded" sth like that.

Keep up the good work! Buffy Boards rule and we love this forum!🙂
 
That was a very unpleasant time, to say the least.

But that rarely happens, at least, not for that amount of time anyway. Usually boards are down for two to three hours when in maintainance mode.
 
As the others have said it can happen, but don't forget we're also on Facebook and we're on Twitter: @buffyboards, so even when we're down we're still here, and you can get any info from there!
