Dollhouse cancelled

I think this just may lead me into a vicious circle of eating ridiculous amounts of chocolate and throwing darts at a FOX-shaped board 🙁

Not a huge surprise, but extremely disappointing. It was great to have a Jossverse show to watch every week again, going to really miss the series

Yes, very disappointing news.

If they are already filming ep 11 out of 13, will they be able to wrap up the series properly?

Syfy preemptively tweeted that they aren't going to pick up the show.

Wow, a network cancelled a show that was losing money? Fancy. Its ratings were bad, it got cut. Saying that Fox sucks is unfair, they've always been clear that they are primarily a business enterprise and Joss knew that when he pitched his show. He couldn't keep up, so he got cancelled.

Just had this thought myself. I hope Joss does something to pull it out the bag and save it from ending up like Heroes season two and cramming it all into the last couple of episodes. Will also be REALLY annoyed if there are any unanswered questions, lol.

I don't think it's fair to blame fox for this one, they've done allot in the past to hate them for, but I don't think Dollhouse is one of them.

They renewed the show last year, when lets be honest it didn't deserve it (rating wise) It came back, and it should have come back bigger and better then ever before, and in my opinion it really failed to do that, I've found myself not as interested in watching episodes every week straight away (I haven't actually seen the last few yet, even though I have them.

I honestly believe this one is on Joss, he knew whatever they were doing last time wasn't working, but they kept on doing it, which caused their rating to get worse! I didn't think it stood a chance at renewal, but I feel worse that it didn't live up to the potential it had!

He better give it some kinda ending though, to just leave us hanging with yet another show, when he has time to do something about it, would make him kinda a douche!

Agreed, as much as I hate to admit it.
WHAT? I TURN ON MY COMPUTER TO FIND THIS??!!!!

I think I will go find a corner to cry in now.

Well, despite fearing that it might come to this, I'm still very dissapointed. What a sad day for me.

What a cool show Dollhouse was. So much potential. Sad day indeed for us Whedonites.

Has Joss released a statment yet?

Sort of, he posted on Whedonesque. There is a link in one of the earlier posts in this thread. Dollhouse did have a ton of potential. Do you think it would have been saved it Fox had aired Epitaph one? Honestly, I'd probably get over it faster if I had not bought S1 for like 40 bucks, cause I'm a big cheapo and I would not have bought it if I did not think Dollhouse was going to be a hit in S2. Which obviously it was not (although the most recent sierra episode was fantastic and so was the "Goodness gracious! guy episode). Man, this sucks so much. I was just happy that there was SOMETHING that Joss was doing that we could talk about!
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! [HASHTAG]#InJossWetrust[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#foxsucks[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#dollhouse[/HASHTAG] on twitter at this very moment. Ran over there after I saw Willow-tree's post. At least we can look forward to Dr. Horrible 2 right? But it just won't be the same now that he is not on TV.....

I'm just worried that there won't be any more tv series by Joss ever again. If i was him it would be really disheartening to have his last 3 shows cancelled by Fox.

Well I'm one of the guilty few who never watched. I saw previews and read episode synopsises (synopsi?) and it never sounded like anything I would like. But I'm sad for Eliza 'cause I wish she would get a role that would make her a HUGE star like she deserves to be...

Eliza love karma
Why doesn't he just pitch the series to another network, like Sci Fi? Buffy was on the WB for five seasons then it went to UPN for the last two and did fine.

Sci Fi already released a statment after some speculations that htey might pick it up, saying that they were not interested.
I'm uber-sad. 🙁

Edit***

Sorry, I posted this at the same time as Willow-tree did. 😉

Egh, this isn't a surprise to me but it still sucks. The show failed to really pick up steam, and we knew it had a lot of potential considering "Man on the Street" and "Epitaph One". They knew the show was in trouble, and it didn't quite go anywhere amazing quick enough. There were plenty hints of great things in the second season, but I mostly was thinking to myself, "this is something they should be doing when they're established". Still, I enjoyed most of the episodes quite a bit and hopefully it gets wrapped up alright.

F**k Fox. We can get 10 seasons of "America's Fattest Fatties" and other such crap, but we can't get a third season of a brilliant and creative show like this?!? F**k TV!
I agree. Smallville, a show that is mediocre at best, is in its 9th season - and a brilliant, innovative show like DH gets cancelld? Seems wrong.

If Joss is serious about an internet project, something like this would be good:

Latest Entries | Star Trek Online Official Site

Hopefully with better quality acting and stories, but he could do some variation of "Tales Of The Slayers," using new actors to play new characters, with maybe an occasional guest shot by some of the original crew. The situation as set up now would work out very well: Slayers all over the world fighting anything from vampires to hell gods. There could be an occasional mention of Buffy, Spike, Willow, Angel, or whoever, but the girls and their teams would be basically on their own.
