Dollhouse Debuts In Feb. On Fridays

In a surprise move, Fox announced that it will debut Joss Whedon's much-anticipated but troubled SF series Dollhouse in a problematic Friday-night timeslot on Feb. 13, 2009, following Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which also moves to Fridays from Mondays on that day.

Dollhouse, starring Eliza Dushku, will air Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, nicknamed "the Death Slot." The X-Files flourished in that timeslot, but no other show has survived it, including Whedon's earlier Fox series, Firefly.

Sarah Connor, which has struggled in the ratings in its Monday 8 p.m. slot, moves to Fridays at 8.

Dollhouse was originally envisioned as a follow-up to Fox's hit 24 on Mondays. The show, which scrapped its original pilot and took several weeks off to retune its concept and scripts, is now in production.

Meanwhile, Fox's Fringe, the top new series of the season among adults aged 18-49, will air in its regular time period, Tuesdays at 9 p.m., and will undoubtedly get a boost from a new lead-in, American Idol, starting Jan. 20, 2009.

Debuting on Friday 13th? This is ridiculous...why insist on this when it is proven it doesn't work!

Ok, is this a joke? I'm starting to think FOX know EXACTLY what they are doing to us, and will announce nearer the time a better timeslot.
OK, assuming FOX's expectations are incredibly low at this point, maybe these two shows can just sort of sputter along with low ratings and FOX won't yank them immediately. Jeez. Joss seriously needs to head over to a cable net. Or get Whedon Internet TV up and running.
 
And this after all that talk about how this was a new crew at Fox, and they would never-ever-ever fall back into those old Fox tricks.

The death-slot for Dollhouse coming right out of the gate.
 
Okay people.. look at it this way.. it's only half a season, coming in at the dirty end of winter; if the show proves it has legs (which i doubt, for reasons i mentioned before) it can easily be switched to a better night in year two.
 
Well, let's look at the bright side. If Dollhouse goes belly up, Joss will have Eliza and Amy there and available. All he would have to do is talk James into reprising his role, and we could have a Spike, Faith, and Illyria movie, even if it's direct to dvd. (We can dream, right?)

If Fox really is trying to kill this project before it even gets started, and it certainly looks as though that's the case, my big question is why? Why would they start a project that will cost at least hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, just to toss it into the trash can this way? And what happened to them being so anxious to have Eliza in a project? Somebody's just plain crazy here.
 
OH. MY. GOD. Really I don't even have words fopr how mad this makes me. The powers at Fox are such assholes. Why even greenlight this series, make a blind promise of 7 episodes to Joss, if they were just gonna turn around and just **** us all over anyway?! (sorry for the language but sometimes its the only word fitting) I just hope that despite their slap in the face Friday time slot, Joss fans give Fox a big "kiss our ass!," turn out in droves and provide record friday night rating numbers so they can eat their crappy descisions!
 
I have a bad feeling about this. 1 season, popular dvd release, then a movie.
 
OK, well I take everything I said in defense of Fox. They're effing morons, unless for some reason "Dollhouse" is a crappy show and we just don't know it yet. I really hope they have a change of heart before the premiere, because this is just sick, and cruel.
 
Oh wow... =( That's sad.

But hey, "Buffy" started as a simple show just to fill a gap caused by the annulement of another show, right ? I have no idea what timeslot it was, though... Everything's still possible, but I hope the Fox guys learn one day... and Joss too ("just say no to Fox!").

Memo to Joss Whedon: The next time you have an idea for a series,DON'T take it to Fox. Take it somewhere else. Because if I were in your place,that would be my first decision. NEVER deal with Fox Television again,for any reason. Not even if they were the only broadcast network in existence.

HBO. Showtime. FX. Hell,even SciFi will treat you better than Fox has.

The first 3 networks I mentioned will treat your project right. And,even with the somewhat skittishness of SciFi when it comes to BSG,they too will back your show.
