Question Dollhouse or Firefly?

Definitley Firefly. I really only started to get into Dollhouse in the second season. I didn't really like the first season, as it seemed more like a series of stand alone episodes than a continuing storyline, and I didn't really like them. With Firefly on the other hand, all of the episodes are very good. If it had lasted longer it'd probably be my favourite show.

I've never seen Firefly, and I'll still have to vote for it, lol.

Dollhouse wasn't a good show imo. It had some great episodes, but as a whole I wouldn't call it good. If they condensed it into 10 arc-driven episodes it would have been great, but we had too many that went nowhere. And judging by the original pilot and FOX's comments, Joss' ideal was that kind of show, but FOX really hurt DH.

Instead of buying them, get Netflix and watch them both. $20 a month, unlimited movies sent to your door. Can't beat it. That's how i watched them. I really can't choose between them. I loved Firefly but felt totally cheated that it ended so quickly. serenity was okay, but there was SO much potential that having it wrapped up in a movie was rushed and incomplete. I know most people like it a lot more than Dollhouse, but I though Dollhouse was brilliant. Again, rushed at the end, but it didn't feel AS rushed.

I suspect my input is redundant at this point, but I vote for Firefly as well. Dollhouse is interesting but flawed (and I don't think the second season was as much of an improvement over the first as most do - it was better in some ways, worse in others). Firefly is awesome from the start. Great characters, great dialogue. It's probably the best first season of any show I've seen - I just wish there was more of it.

I'm sure my choice is shocking as well but it's Firefly all the way. If you end up buying them of course since other options have been mentioned. But it's not because I think it's the better of the shows. Others loving a show isn't a guarantee that you will. Even though there's a movie after the show you get all episodes on set (and 14 instead of Dollhouse's 13 if you don't count the original pilot). With Dollhouse you need two and the second isn't released yet but might have when it's time to shop again. And you just have to watch Dr. Horrible. That on the other hand is a good idea to watch online first and if you like/love it buy the dvd. Trust me you don't want to miss out on the commentary.

If you live in America just go to hulu.com and type in Dr. Horrible. It's a free Whedon injection.

Instead of buying them, get Netflix and watch them both.

I guess we have to hope the UK as location isn't true then. 😉

Wow i'm amazed how easy a decision that was for you all - i thought at least there'd be a little debating, but there's obviously a clear winner with 24 votes for Firefly and 0 for Dollhouse!! I genuinely thought it was more popular than that - but what did I know?!

Thank you so much for all of your contributions - it's been really great reading through them 🙂

I will order Firefly asap - can't wait to get into it, you're all so enthusiastic and passionate about the show, it's really infectious! I'll make sure to share my opinions when I start watching!
Thanks again guys 🙂

Yay! You are getting Firefly.

I still cannot believe such a great series got cancelled after less than one season. It was on its way to being one of the greats like Doctor Who.

I had high hopes for Dollhouse and entered that world with an open mind and my fangirl-this-is-going-to-be-awesome goggles on and was severely disappointed. The premise of the series is thought-provoking and dark and intelligent but the writing and execution was not.

Yay you ordered Firefly. Even though I really like Dollhouse, I didn't start getting into it until the second season and I wasn't impressed with Eliza's acting in some of the episodes. Also the best episode in the first season is Epitaph One and that's the last episode of the first season, but I did think that the sseason itself was boring. And I watched Firefly mainly because of Nathan Fillion and it's alittle more interesting, and even if there's only one season there's still a movie called Serenity that you can see after. So it's good you ordered Firefly becuase I think you'll like it more. And BTW, you're right about Firefly being more popular that DH.

I'm on the fence. I literally can't choose. I love and adore Firefly, but I love and adore Dollhouse just as much...

Yeah, Firefly is way better than Dollhouse. Short but sweet, it's the best first season of any show I've seen. It was much more deserving of a second season than Dollhouse was.
