Dollhouse or Tru Calling

Just realized I never said my POV after watching Tru Calling....

I loved it. But I hate the way it ended. So many things were left hanging without answers... And as much as I love a good Christmas special, the last episode was a let down...

So I would gladly pick Tru Calling... if it hadn't been cancelled. The way it ended ruins it for me.

That's actually such a hard question.
I loved both and have re-watched them all so many times.
I think I preferred Eliza in Tru Calling but Dollhouse as a show just clinches it for me.

I'd choose Tru Calling (think I may be alone in prefering season 1 Od Dollhouse to the 2nd) - it was just starting to do really interesting things with the basic premise when it was cancelled.

I haven't gotten around to watching Dollhouse yet. I LOVE Tru Calling. I have it on DVD & watch it fairly often, even though there isn't much to watch. 🙁 I was so mad when the show got canceled, and all these years later I'm still mad about it.

Love both shows, Dollhouse is definitely my favorite, however had Tru gone on longer, that might be a harder choice for me to make.

I think Eliza made a better role in tru calling mainly because I wasn't a big fan of dollhouse. Does anybody know why Tru Calling was cancelled? I loved that show!

It was canceled because of ratings (though I think if it had continued on, it would have had a strong fan base), and also replaced by the show Point Pleasant. Fox thought PP would get more ratings, so they stuck it in TC's place. The ironic thing is that it didn't do nearly as well or last as long as Tru Calling did, so they should have left well enough alone. I'm still bitter over Fox yanking it off air. It was really getting good.

So another show yanked off by Fox, hmm??? I'm starting to dislike these people XD

When Tru Calling aired I was so excited to see Eliza on TV, same thing for Dollhouse. But I haven't seen Tru Calling in years so I'm gonna go with Dollhouse. I liked it a lot better on re-watch and it gets good in season 2. I guess I have to go back and re-watch Tru Calling to make a better comparison. Basically I'll watch anything with Eliza even if it's not good. And yea, Fox sucks!

I love both shows! Tru Calling was cancelled at the possibly worst time, the story was just picking up and the last few episode were stellar, and then boom nothing. What was worst was that I didn't know the show was cancelled so I saw the finale expecting to have more after, and since it ends on a cliffhanger, it's pretty hard not to expect more. Dollhouse had a better ending, even though it was also cut short. In the end, both shows were very unique in comparison to a lot of the crap that is on TV nowadays. Both deserved to last longer, and to me both presented a similar quality.

Dollhouse, just for Season 2 alone. The ending was just beautiful. Bittersweet and worthwhile. It's not a perfect show but I really dig that ending.

Tru Calling had potential but it was cut down before it had a chance to grow.

I'm going to base my answer on which show made me most upset when it finished, and that was Tru Calling: I was devastated, first because the show itself finished, and because we missed out on a Faith spin-off for the show.

I loved Dollhouse, but based on the creator's blog, I think we had a lot more to look forward to in Tru Calling.

Plus it was nice to love a show created by someone other than Joss for once 🙂

Tru Calling because to me it was amazing how she always finds a way or tries to save anybody, people she didn't even know or met at whatever cost and the show was also heartbreaking...
But Eliza as Tru is my role model<3

I much prefered Dollhouse. Okay the first episodes were a bit slow and hard to get into, but then I really liked watching it a lot.

Tru Calling might have been good, but tbh the concept really creeped me out, with all the dead people yeeling out "help me" so I didn't make it past episode 3 or something.

Unfortunatly, when I'm watching Tru Calling all I can think is:

'I'd rather be watching Faith The Vampire Slayer' over and over again. Which is really unfair I know, but I can't help it.

With Dollhouse that evil little voice is silenced. 🙂

I agree, but I have a diametric response, I think Fatih TVS didn't happen, but when I watch Dollhouse: I think we have Joss Whedon + Eliza Dushku and it's not Faith the vampire slayer 🙁

I was really looking forward to what would happen next in Tru Calling, the show was really setting the big bad story up phenomenally well.

Could you point me to the creator's blog? I'd love to know what was scripted to happen next.

Dollhouse was ok, the stand alone stories weren't as strong as Tru callings and it's hard to feel for a character when they don't really remember anything that happened previously, I didn't hate it, but sure didn't like it as much as Tru Calling.

I guess I'm of the opinion that if Faith the Vampire Slayer was going to happen, it should've carried on straight after Buffy, when a lot of fans would've been so thrilled to see the story continue.
I think that's why so many really like Angel S5, because its all we have left of the Buffyverse.

But by the time Dollhouse came along, Angel had finished and the Buffyverse had that 'over/moved on' feeling, which is why I could separate the two in my mind. 🙂

Man, I really wanted that spin-off, I've read some terrific FtVS fan-fic that shows just how many ideas they could've come up with for Faith's character. 🙂
