LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - A second mid-season Fox series, producer Joss Whedon's new drama "Dollhouse," has shut down production for a couple of weeks to work on scripts.

Filming on "Dollhouse" stopped Thursday after wrapping episode three. It came at the request of Whedon, who had had spent little time in the writers room lately, busy directing the first two episodes of the series. Not completely happy with the quality of upcoming scripts, he asked producing studio 20th TV for a time-out.

Grrr and arghh for the Doom title. On the illuminated side making the show better is welcomed by me.
So what does this mean? Is the stasrt of the series getting delayed again?

And good that this was only Joss Whedon's idea, for a scary moment I thought the show got cancelled completely or something.
 
oh for craps sake! I want to watch this so bad, delays make me sad! Although I am glad that he's taking the time to make sure it's a really high-quality product 🙂 yay Joss!
 
No doubt with the memories of "Angel" and "Firefly" still burning his private parts, Joss is taking no chances whatsoever with this show being as near perfect as he can possibly make it. Let's just hope that he doesn't "perfection" it to death.

I wonder how much of that has to do with the writing staff? If memory serves I thought he was going with all new writers for the show.
 
Same, when I read the title of this thread I damn near had a heart attack! lol. Thank god its only a delay....dang it Now I have to wait even longer! ggggrrrhhhh....

Anyway, this is good news. It is. Really. The fact that the network is allowing it is a good sign that they are properly on board.
 
A person familiar with the thinking of some Fox executives told TelevisionWeek that there have been concerns raised inside the network about the fundamental underpinnings of the show.

Uh-huh. I'm going to believe that. It's so convincing and backed up with evidence. Not a dig at you, slayerpower, but the article. It's pretty much making something out of nothing regarding the shutdown. That's the ONLY thing they have to back up their claims. It's a bit flimsy, to say the least.

Why Joss keeps going to Fox I don't understand. Or why Fox wastes time on series that they are just gonna cancel after 6 episodes....big mystery
It says "some executives have expressed concerns that early episodes of the series have been confusing and hard to follow."

My God, give it a chance. Are they forgetting the amount of fans Joss has?? Give the guy a break, don't want another case of the Fireflys.
 
When Star Wars first aired they (Fox) wanted to make Chewbacca wear a diaper or something...the also wanted to have C3PO's mouth move...they get some strange idea from time to time.

Fox thought Star Wars would flop, though they did take a chance on it.... and wanted to make changes to it. (Thankfully George told them to Sod off)
They also pulled the rug out from under Firefly, I'm thinking prematurely.

I think that company gets alittle too involved, and too opinionated. They might even have unrealistic expectations, since Joss has long had a golden touch. I hope this show gets a fair shake.

It makes me angry when the company tries to change the writers product. If they want to make a show fine, do it, but don't hire a writer and get everyone who's a fan of said writers hopes up...and then mewl about "This isn't what we want" or "I don't get it." let the product succeed or fail by its own merit.

I almost wish Joss would pull away from Fox and go back to cable networks like the WB. The big 4 are overrated anyway in my opinion.

Short of HIMYM, Chuck, and the NFL they could just go away for all I care.

So help me Fox...don't make me put my butt whoopin' boots on....

The WB wasn't cable. :/ And every company gets involved with product, not just Fox.
anyone remember a few months ago when fans said they were protesting the cancelation of the show incase it would get cancelled...?

I liked how on the ball they were, were protesting a prospective cancellation.... i hope i dont build the show up too much to myself though, i tend to hype things and get really excited only for the thing not to possibly meet those expectations... but this is JOSS!!! he's not gonna let us down, its a shame he's been unhappy with what he's been doing and second guessing himself.

I'm right there with you; I'm hoping that whith same new writers working with him, its just growing pains. I'm happy that he has the drive to do it right. So we wait! So we wait.
I'm not saying the article was true. They really don't have any evidence backing their claims up. I just thought I'd post an article that offers a different reason for why the show's production is on hiatus.
 
While it is good that Joss is reworking the scripts, I dont see Dollhouse surviving that long with all the production trouble it has had. It seems like they are wasting a lot of footage and money and I dont think Fox has changed that drastically to keep this up espically if the show isnt a giant in the ratings it will get pulled for sure.
