Dollhouse Ratings Watch!

But the very high DVR numbers suggest that the show is in the wrong timeslot.

If it was in a better timeslot for the audience, the live-viewing numbers would increase and the DVR numbers would decrease, because more viewers would be watching it live. Moving some of those DVR viewers over into the live-viewer column would be an improvement from the advertisers' and network's perspective, right?
30% isnt especially high, heck even TSCC got 36%. Some shows often get higher, I remember reading about 90210 getting like 45% DVR increases.

Not necessarily. The numbers aren't that high. The numbers aren't even that good for a Friday night slot with the DVRs included. To arbitrarily say because it adds 30% on the pilot, and almost that much on the second show, its in the wrong timespot is a bit premature.

So DVR is someone recording it to watch later? What if they watch it on whatever the american equlivant of iPlayer/4OD (i.e. online)?

This conversation confuses my little British brain!

DVR = Digital Video Recorder. It's like a VCR, only digital, so no tape, and it holds a LOT of information so you can tape lots of shows. Some of them even take the initiative to tape stuff for you based on stuff you've taped before.

Well, I guess the only remaining conclusion is that people aren't watching the show because they think it sucks. And it will continue to plunge, and Fox will take it off the air around episode 6 or 7, and probably not bother with a DVD release.

That would be par for the course for me and my favored TV shows. My ideas of quality entertainment are very, very different from mainstream America's.

More reality shows about morons screaming at each other. That's what we need.

No, not the only remaining conclusion; but when you allude to the fact that a 30% increase in DVRs is evidence that it may be in the wrong timespot, I just think thats really laughable.

This is correct. The 30% is the increase over live viewers. It's been constant for the first 2 episodes, though there's no guarantee it will remain so.

So then the DVR numbers are decreasing as well, so its a pretty steady decline as well if it remains at 30%?

I mean if the same number of people were watching it online, or indeed more, then as the actual figure went down the percentage would rise.

If you have 90 viewers on week 2 and you want to hit the 130 from the previous week, thats not 30% more, thats like 35% more, right?

What am I missing if then if the premiere numbers are dwindling and the percentage is staying the same?

precisly what i was trying to say. 30% on lower numbers is...funnily enough, a lower number!
Can we all just agree that Dollhouse is in trouble. I mean, these percentages and such aren't proving anything. The show needs more viewers, and it needs them fast.

Its not a matter of that, I wanted to clear it up for myself.
The thread is very confusing because people are saying the percentage is quite good but I don't understand how that can be IF the percentage is based on the actual figures.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't like 30% of people using the DVR of that timeslot or what not.

The point is if the numbers are dwindling and that needs to be altered.

I've never watched the show, not do I intend to, but I do have friends that love it and I wish for them to keep it - it doesn't affect my TV viewing if it remains on the air.

Besides, the LAST thing Buffy-Boards.com needs is the 'EB says I told you so' thread.

I got a Nielson ratings book so I can't wait to put Dollhouse in there!!!!!!!!
Dang, thats awesome. K, so i decided to go get some of the numbers. Turns out your one of roughly only 5000 people. There are supposedly around 100 million TV households so if we do the math, your 1 viewing represents 20,000 of us tuning in lol.

Have I mentioned how flawed this system is!

If things were any mathier I would be doomed.

Really? That means you're the only one here who can actually help the show!

(Give a little love to Terminator:TSCC while you're at it...)

Yes, I agree... Help us TabulaRasa, you're our only hope...

Even if you don't like Terminator.. Give it a little push. I'm running out of shows to watch.. Help me out.

In a news article from the Guardian they showed Terminator and Dollhouse to be among the top ten TV torrents.

Another site I visit had those 2 top 3 for Friday. Way above Ghost Whisperer.

Officially that means nothing, but in the back offices I know the music industry used to pay attention to stuff like that when considering how to market.

What I mean is whether Dollhouse goes past 13, or not, I bet you'll see a DVD.

Also, concerning Friday's ratings, doesn't it look like Friday Night Lights bumped up? If so that that would show staying with a failing series can have effect.
