Just realized this totally needs it's own thread!

Dollhouse will be back with us in the fall for a further 13 episodes!

It's cool to be on the Internet when it was announced you can actually see it spread like wildfire across articles, blogs and twitter!!

Hooray hooray! I think all of us who pre-ordered the DVD definitely get a round of applause for helping, right? I can hardly wait for fall now!

Not to rain on anyones parade, or nothing, but which of these links is the actual official link?

I only ask because a few years ago, I was online and got all excited because we were told that Enterprise was 'officially' renewed and then two days later turned out to be a mistake.

I don't care for the show either way, I'm just interested.


Ohh and if its true, to all those people who gave up - for shame!

I wonder how obvious this might be, or if Joss will pull it off?

Oh, too bad. I'd still watch if Joss was forced to replace all of the actors with sock puppets.

Besides, Buffy had a relatively small budget (especially in the first two seasons), didn't it? I'm sure Dollhouse can pull it off just fine.

The thing that worries me is the bit about the "change in creative direction." Does this mean Fox will have more creative control, or does it mean that they'll let Joss run it almost exclusively like he allegedly did during the latter half of season 1?
 
It also says that the episodes will be dropping from 50 mins to the normal 42, so that will maybe save a bit extra.

I wonder where they could cut costs, the sets for the dollhouse are already built so should be no issues there! There aren't any big special effects in it, maybe less of Saunders?

(DH is also the most twitted about topic on Twitter right now, kinda cool)
 
As happy as I am for Dollhouse getting renewed, I'm also insanely happy that Chuck is looking good for renewal to, according to the list Al posted.

Cool. I'm happy for all the Dollhouse fans. I won't be watching, well, because I didn't like it, but still, good for you guys. 🙂
 
Wow. This is the most (pleasantly) astonishing network decision I've seen in... many, many years.

I can't wait to hear how Joss, Eliza and the others felt when they got the word. They should totally throw a cast and crew party to celebrate, and call it the Extravaganza Bonanza. 🙂

And "Castle" is renewed too. Can we dare hope for T:SCC to complete the trifecta?

As for the budget cuts... I know they'll save money by cutting 8-9 minutes of running time off each episode. They can also save a lot by shooting their outdoor scenes in Vancouver like everyone else, and not in L.A.

Other than that, I'm having a hard time understanding what makes this show so expensive. There aren't a lot of special effects, and the cast is hardly made up of expensive A-listers. They don't have a lot of big-name guest stars. So what are they spending so much money on?

The rumors I've heard suggest that "Epitaph One" may have saved the show's bacon, even though Fox won't show it. The execs were impressed that he could make such a cool episode on 1/2 budget, so that showed them he could keep the show's quality up with less money.

RE: The budget cuts. That shouldn't be too bad, right? I heard most of their money went into building the sets and they already got those.
And shorter episodes should save quite some money too.

BTW what do they mean "The move will also mark a shift in creative direction of the show" does that mean Season 2 will be like the first 5 of S1?
