Dollhouse Renewed!

Awsome, Joss and crew beat the toughest big bad of the small screen, the Friday night show devouring slot of terror, for too long has it made fans weep and swear.

Perhaps since the beast is now no more, the keepers of the foul monster have saw how overated it's speculation was and have ajusted expectations acordingly.

I doubt it.

I hate to say I told you so... nah, don't hate saying it all, told ya'll so!!!! :silly: The news really doesn't even come as a surpsise o me, I always knew in my gut that we'd get a S2, my faith never waivered and I'm SO happy!

All I have to say is 'wow really surprised!'
From what I read if it's pvr and streaming that's saving this show then Joss better be more organized in laying out the story or this will be early cannon fodder. The last two episodes should have been show's 6&7 then the series would have established a story arc with a face. This wandering around with stories and suspicions proved to be almost fatal with tv #'s declining every week because there was nothing for the viewer to latch onto.
Lost got away with it because the show gripped the fans for the first two seasons but Dollhouse was playing out like it had already been on the air for a season. I know a lot of people look at Joss as a ubber-writer/series creator but if he wants to be bull headed, like he seems to be, then hopefully he has learned his lesson and will get his act together and produce a tight, organized show. Because if the tv #'s decrease next season Fox will not keep it around even if it streams well or pvr's well because these two formats, to my knowledge, do not have advertising.

pvr? I think you mean DVR? but both streaming and DVR have advertisements.

Further proof that J.J. Abrams is better than Joss Whedon. ;) </utters heresy>
Web purchased episodes on iTunes don't have commercials. I know first hand!

Our stupid DVR failed during a thunderstorm so we had to buy omega. Of course, then you have to pay for the show, which is otherwise free on a DVR and I'm guessing Fox gets paid directly for it's product instead of advertisers paying for a spot.

With our economy being what it is and companies scaling back on advertisement budgets, direct purchase might be a way for Fox to make up for renegotiated advertisement contracts for cheaper buyins for air time.

If what I heard on the radio was correct, even very popular shows are going to the deal table to broker cheaper deals with some big name companies.

It doesn't make sense to me, but advertisement is one of the budgets many a company are cutting. Maybe fox sees this new economic climate as one favorable to a Joss kind of show?

It would have been nice to see a longer season, but at this point I'm certainly not complaining! 😀 SO glad that this show's been renewed, I can't wait to see where Joss and co. take it next season :yay:

Love your new banner!
YAY! Thats exciting and also scary. Since now it will have to have a huge ratings improvement. But if it does go well, Fox will probably pick it up for a backend 9 episodes.

I really want to know what made caroline sign up to the dollhouse in the first place. What was the running from/trying to escape from?

^ Possible jail time? I thought it was just sort of a combination of blackmail/bribery on Adelle's part. The Rossom corp, the college wouldn't press charges against Caroline for breaking into that campus lab, and she'd be set up financially after her 5 year stint was done.

It also says that the episodes will be dropping from 50 mins to the normal 42, so that will maybe save a bit extra.

I wonder where they could cut costs, the sets for the dollhouse are already built so should be no issues there! There aren't any big special effects in it, maybe less of Saunders?

(DH is also the most twitted about topic on Twitter right now, kinda cool)

Well, revenue from those extra 16 commercials, no November salary and presumably less helicopters 😉

Actually i dont mind it airing on fridays anymore, look its definately not an easy show to get into, and if it was aired on any other night it will need to get a massive boost in ratings to survive. Something that i cant see happening.

Well im with the group of people who think that one of the sole reasons for its low numbers is its timeslot. Its trying to attract young adults on precisely the night when young adults are doing other things...its not rocket science! Look at Fringe and shows like it, people need to believe in it a bit more. Dollhouse has everything needed to be just like any of them...stick it on a Tues/Thurs and watch it flourish.

Weve already seen that Friday= a very close call... I certainly dont want that again!

I agree with you completley!
Still so awesome!

Joss on the renewal!

Any thread that contains both "Shpadoinkle" and "Yub Yub" is truly exciting. And anything that reunites me with my stunning cast and my crazy staff (or "room fulla Tophers", as I call them) is nothing short of a gift. Heady times, indeed. We're two weeks away from finishing "Cabin" and now it looks like no summer vacation after all. But oh, the terrible things my brain is brewing... Just wait. We'll make it worth it.

Thanks for hanging in.

This is such great news. I am really liking Fox right now. Next season they'll have Dollhouse, Fringe, Bones (which they just renewed for TWO seasons!), and then there's Lie to Me and House, which I don't watch regularly but both are well-made shows, and then they picked up Human Target and Past Life, which both sound like they'll be pretty interesting.

Lie to Me
I like Tim Roth and normally I do not like 'standalone' shows, but I rather do enjoy Lie To Me. Very smartly written and pretty solid cast. But, I do have a Roth bias so.. glad to hear it is coming back for more.

Now I think I need to watch Four Rooms!
