Echo is imprinted as Emily Jordan, mother to a newborn baby, Jack, and Topher has outdone himself by imprinting her so deeply that she has even begun to lactate. But Emily is pushing herself hard, and when she finds pictures in her husband Nathan (Kristoffer Polaha)'s desk of him with another woman, she begins to suspect him of having an affair. The truth is that the woman, Karen, is Jack's biological mother, who died birthing her, and whom Echo is meant to think she is, and Nate decides to call off the engagement. Unfortunately, Emily interprets the situation as an attempt to kill her... and, even when wiped, Echo remains attached to Jack, giving him up only when Nathan explains the entire situation. Meanwhile, Ballard has to confront his own confused feelings when DeWitt brings Madeline Costley "“ the former November (Miracle Laurie) "“ back to the Dollhouse for a diagnostic, and Perrin deepens his investigation into the Dollhouse with the help of his wife Cindy (Stacey Scowley).

Stacey Scowley (Perrin's wife) played the bride in the unaired pilot. She also is the unnamed "Young Woman" that Spike kills in Conversations With Dead People & buries in Sleeper.
My thoughts:
-"It's not a toy, Ballard". I love Topher reprimanding Paul.
-"I made changes on a glandular level". He's talking about lactation. For some reason I didn't catch that the 1st time- I thought that Topher made her as a mother & I wondered how they induced lactation (which can be done, although it's difficult).
-Van Halen reference!
-OMG that baby is adorable!
-Ooh, I get so mad at the dad. Although his explanation later about not bonding with the baby is understandable if his wife died in childbirth.
-"He's been replaced by a stranger" says the imprinted "wife".
-"Don't take my baby!!". As a mother, it is soooo hard for me to watch this. I can just imagine her panic.

-Hah- Echo doesn't know how to drive a car.
-Topher Brink: "The maternal instinct is the purest. It's too strong for a normal wipe. I outplayed myself like in chess." Yes, Clueless, this is why you don't f^ck with a mother!
-Wow, November and Echo's lines, completely in contrast to each other (& November is the one who DID actually lose a child!).
Echo: Feeling nothing would be worse. That would be like before... asleep. And I'm awake now. I don't want to go back to sleep.
Madeline: She'll be OK. The girl. You seemed worried about her. She'll forget about the baby, she'll forget everything. No more pain, no more grief. They did it for me. Your friend, she'll be fine. She won't remember anything. I had a daughter. She died. She had a cold and then it wasn't a cold. It was cancer. Terminal. And my world fell apart. Within 6 months she was gone and I was left all alone, completely alone. Unable to function. But what I'm telling you is that it all worked out. I met Adelle. She told me i didn't have to suffer anymore. i could go to sleep for 5 years, and wake up without pain
Paul: So what, you're happy now?
Madeline: I'm not sad.
So it begs the question, is it better to be happy and yet suffer, or to forget and not feel pain?
