Radha: Dollhouse's chances of renewal are reportedly slim. Please, please say it isn't so! Do you have any happier news?

You know that 14th episode of Dollhouse that's set in a post-Apocalyptic universe and that won't be appearing on Fox network but will be included on the season-one DVD? Well, no one's officially confirming anything, and this is all still entirely in the theoretical dreamy dream stage, but reliable sources tell us exclusively that spinning off "Epitaph One" into a new series is "not exactly outside the realm of Joss’ master plan." So even if Dollhouse proper doesn't get a pickup for season two, there might still be an alternate Dollverse for us to play in. What do you think of that?!

This sounds such an incredible longshot, but it's fun to dream. Felicia Day as the lead might be nice...

Fox wouldn't be the network picking this show up, I assume. 20th Century Fox and Mutant Enemy would take it to another channel... hopefully cable.

I think it's a good idea. Dollhouse needs a game-changer and the game needs to stay changed for once. No more freaking engagements and "did I fall asleep." Time for the next level.

I just hope so much that it gets a second season...a second season with Felicia Day sounds nice 🙂
This would be cool though. Doubtful, but cool!

Loving your sig, especially the quote and the pictures... God her smile is so amazing.
Maybe I misunderstood (I don't know anything about the episode "Epitaph One" other than what this says), but, I thought it was implying the new show would have the same cast as the current one, just playing "alternate" versions of their characters in an alternate reality? Meaning it would be a way get FOX to let them do a second season even if the show got cancelled by turning it into a different show? (It would be easier and cheaper than getting a totally new series - after all, they already paid for the pilot episode. :lmao: )

I could be wrong but that seems exactly like something JW would do.

Nah, It would likely be a new cast, cos Epitaph One is
a post-apocalyptic story, set 30 yrs in the future
. But maybe they could dream up a science fictional way to incorporate some current cast members.

They can't cancel Dollhouse, it just got crazy good. I will lose all faith in the entertainment industry if they pull ANOTHER Firefly.

The plot of the episode doesn't rule out the possibility of the new show having the same (or mostly the same) cast playing different characters in a totally different setting. It would make perfect sense--the whole show is about people "becoming" different people, so, why couldn't the show itself become a different show?

I just checked on Whedonesque and it looks like I'm not the only person who got that impression. Sounds like Whedon may have tricked FOX into paying for a pilot for a new show. :lmao:

That's cool, if he's still actually interested in television...and he'd be allowed to shop it around to cable, or they moved it to FX or something...
