What things do you feel that you absolutely cannot do without in your day to day routine? I always have:

1) Billfold w/money, I D, various licenses, and insurance cards
2) Keys
3) Small tape measure
4) Handkerchief
5) Cell phone
6) Multitool (for those not familiar with the term, imagine a
pair of folding pliers equipped with knife, various screw drivers,
file, punch, and small saw. Great for us tinkerers.
7) Small flashlight (mainly because my granddaughter loves to
play with it.)

8) Lipstick
9) Perfume
10) Spare underwear
11) Lighter

My brains. They are usually falling out of my arse, so I need tight underwear to keep 'em in. Be really scuppered without them.

1. Wallet
2. Keys (car/home and work)
3. Pen
4. Book (I feel naked if I don't have a book on me at all times)
5. Watch

Those are the things I MUST take with me. Other than that, I USUALLY have a notebook with random junk written in it (outline of my novel, reminder notes, etc.), my German Grammar Spark Chart (in case I get some time to sit down and work on my German lessons), and some sort of caffeinated beverage.

On my person:
Wallet
Cell Phone
Pocket knife

In my vehicles: A CPR shield, safteybelt cutter/window smasher. In the trunk I have a survival kit that contain coveralls, a sandbag, road flares, extra batteries, flashlights, a small flask of lighter fluid, and a pre packaged first aid kit. (Some of the stuff is probably expired though.) This all might sound a little weird, but its what my Dad taught me to have growing up and if I didn't have them I'd feel badly about it.

My truck has all of that plus a fire extinguisher, but thats a law not a choice. (I don't fancy the idea of it going off right next to me, where the damn thing is mounted. Thinking that could be a visability hazard among other things.)

i always have my mobile phone, door keys and almost always my I.D

My phone
Smokes
Lighters (like 4 cos I constantly lose them)
Car keys and house keys if I can find them
Lovely little happy pills
My purse with all the cards and that if I can find it
Lip gloss
See I put them all in this great thing called a Bag and take that with me.

That is ALL I need to leave the house; however, I do have a rather large and full truck with gear I never need. Including but not limited to, two separate GPS units, two atlases, roughly 100 CD's, maybe a dozen books, a pair of shoes, underwear, hooded sweatshirt, several towels, at least two pens, and a few notebooks (in addition to my stash of course, as you all know of that already). At all times those things are in my truck. Serious.

That's a lot of music. Where are you planning on running to! Northern Europe via the top of Canada?

I can't go out without;

handbag
keys
mobile
purse
buggy
kid.

Theoratically, I wouldnt leave the house without
-money
-a bottle of water
-keys
-phone
-lipbalm
-ciggies (and lighters)
-eyeliner and powder (for my face)
-ID
-lights (for my bike)

But in practice, I usually leave the house with only one or two random things from the above list ^^

First of all, what is a small tape measure?!

So what are the essential things I always take along with me.

1) My pants. I often have dreams, where I forget to take them along. It's awful.
2) A wallet with some cash in it, though at the moment I'm cash free. The wallet carries bus tickets and my ID card.
3) Mobile phone (normally my German number, sometimes I take two phones with me)
4) Keys
5) A rucksack, cause without it I also feel naked. I should think of taking a second pair of pants with me, just in case... Well it contains normally my school stuff, or just anything that is in need of being deported.

A small tape measure is just a little tool that you use to measure the lengths of things...I'm very vague today....
What I always try to take (in my stylish black leather bad...Smeermaas people know which one I'm talking about 😉):
-my wallet (possibly including my UM card)
-hairbrush
-a pen
-ciggies+lighter (my cool kitchen lighter 😀)
-pump for my bike's tyres
(-right now that it's so cold my gloves)
-some sort of make up

I probably should take my cell phone with me, but people who know me know anyway how impossible it is to reach me there because I never take it with me, never switch it on, never have any cash on it, and usually forget to reload the battery 😛

I always take:

-My Glasses (but I always wear 'em, sooo... 😉)
-Keys
-Purse (to hold everything)
-Phone
-Wallet, containing cash (hardly ever), IDs and the like
-Pens (usually more than one, what if one happened to run out? And as I'm trying to learn to write (not a writer/author yet, as I haven't published anything 😉), I balk at such an idea)
-Wrist brace, should my carpal tunnel bother me
-An icon
-A notebook (so I can write!)
-Camera
-Library card
-Hoodie (because even in the summer, I might get cold)
-Chapstick (my lips get chapped easily)
-Pocket knife/leatherman dealio
-iPod (Even though I don't always listen to it, and poor Tonks (it's Pink 😛) is starting to have her battery die...)

There is more stuff in my purse but I forget what's in there. 😛 I usually grab some kind of pain reliever just in case, as I have the unfortunate habit of being very clumsy. 😉 There is always water in the car. I think that's most everything. Oh, and there's always a book in the car I can read in case something goes wrong, and several different maps.

Bah, maps...who needs em' ;)
The bare minimum I leave the house with:

- Carmex
- Cell phone
- Keys [my keychain is HUGE. I have house keys, keys to my bedroom, car keys, Phil's apartment keys, Kris's apartment keys, plus eight different key chains including but not limited to the Coheed & Cambria Keywork symbol, Buffy, and Optimus Prime's head 😀]
- Depending if I'm buying beer and/or smokes, my ID

But usually, if I'm going out somewhere, I bring my purse, which is also HUGE:

- Cigarettes and lighter [and if I can actually FIND THEM, spare lighters]
- Makeup [foundation, two different types of eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, powder]
- Moisturizer
- Hair brush
- A pill bottle I gleefully labeled my Betty Ford Trail Mix [aspirin, sleeping pills, nasal decongestants]
- Sunglasses
- iPod [and the FM transmitter for it, car charger, and and extra cord to plug it in to a stereo directly]
- Nail kit
- Deodorant
- Perfume
- Womanly...items
- Phone charger
- Usually three books: one I'm reading, a book that I write random stories in when the mood strikes, and The Book of Funny Junk
- Two smaller notebooks for randomness
- Wallet
- Assorted pens, pencils, highlighters and Sharpies
- Extra hair ties, pencil lead, erasers and spare eyebrow rings
- My glasses, a calculator, and scissors

My car just has a punch of roadside assistance crap and a trunk full of stuffed animals. Seriously. I have a plush Mystery Machine, a stuffed rabbit, a couple of teddy bears and I think a duck back there. But I NEVER leave in my car without a Black Light Burns CD in my Cd player. It's a constant. 😀

I've worked it so I can live out of my purse for months if I need to. Don't hate.

Womanly items? Like sugar, and spice, and all things nice? Or tampons?

I'm with you on the extra hair ties!

Queen Mum
The only thing missing here are condoms ;)
erm my keys (well most of the time.. i have been left outside a few times and having coffee with the old woman next door)

an mp3 player (well two as i never wanna be caught short without music)

My keys (I always forget them and have to break into my apartment lol)
My wallet
A recreational reading book (bus entertainment)
If I'm going to class - my schoolbag
My reusable coffee cup
My phone
and...last but not least...my savior, Burts Bees lip balm 🙂
Possibly eyeliner

I never leave the house without:

A jacket or sweater of some kind
My phone
My travel toothbrush and travel toothpaste
Some spare change

My purse, which contains:
All of the above on days when my pants or skirt lacks pockets
My work schedule
My nametag
A Baggu
IDs, debit cards, insurance cards, etc
Some spare cash
A travel size bottle of perfume
A travel size hair comb
Chapstick
At least one working pen and/or pencil
A travel/pocket size notebook
Chewing gum
My keys, on which I also have a mini-sunscreen bottle.

I usually also carry a book with me, too. Since my purse is made from a book, though, there's not really room to put a book inside a book. 🙂 That might also explain why everything that I carry with me is in miniature and why I carry a large Baggu. For those of you who don't know, a Baggu is a reusable bag that folds up into a small square when you're not using it. It's better for the environment than using plastic bags and also comes in handy whenever I buy books (which is, umm, often).
