Double Meat Palace...Oh yes Buffy, you 're in HELL!

This wasn't my favourite episode of the season or anything, but I have to admit that I am guilty of LOVING the Doublemeat Palace arc. 😀

So often on TV characters end up with jobs that realistically they wouldn't have the skills to get in real life, or they live a lifestyle that they would never be able to afford. It's kind of a breath of fresh air to see a hero struggle with finances, and in turn take up a less than glamourous job to make ends meet. The Doublemeat Palace was a little extreme (I don't think most fast food uniforms are quite that bad!), but it was a quirky, fun and a very humanizing job to give a vampire slayer I thought. Definitely gives a little perspective to the worker who takes your lunch order!

Doublemeat Palace isn't a fun episode to watch if you've worked in fast food before. It really captures it well. I would skip over it, but I'm too obsessive about watching them all in order. And every episode has good parts. Just trying to remember what the good parts are in this one...

Just seeing Buffy in that hat makes the episode worth watching. 🙂

I don't mind this episode, it's another good Buffy episode for me. Nothing less, nothing more.

I love how the atmosophere that the cor workers were evil but it turned out to be the little old women with her cherry pie lol .😉!

This is one of my least favourite episodes, but it did have some funny moments, like when Xander was mid way through eating that burger and Buffy's like "We need to analyze that burger to see if it's made of people." Xander reaction was priceless!

I felt so bad for Buffy having to work there. It is very interesting that Buffy thinks it is imoral to charge people for saving their lives or for defeating demons. What does she really think of Angel Investigations? The AI team are pretty lucky that they get paid for being Scoobies. Poor Buffy ends up having full-time school and then full-time work while being a full-time demon hunter that has to lead her group and does 80% of the fighting.

I think that Buffy chose this job because she couldn't spend that much time around the Scooby Gang yet. It was exhausting trying to pretend to be happy or even completely functual around them. She couldn't work at the construction site since Xander fired her thanks to the Trio. She really didn't want to go back to working at the Magic Box after the Mummy Hand Timeloop trauma. She couldn't get a lot of jobs since she had a criminal record and hadn't yet finished college. Her bills were piling up and Social Services were on her case (if it looked like she couldn't provide for Dawn they would stick in her the foster care system) and she needed employment post-haste. The fast food route seemed like a good choice since she was hired quickly (no lengthy interview process or resume required), she wouldn't have to put a lot of effort in maintaining her appearance (she gets injured, her clothes get ruined, etc) since it isn't an office job, after finding out the secret ingrediant she didn't run the risk of being fired if she had to change her schedule because of Slaying emergencies.

I love those two Spuffy scenes. 😉

Some parts of this episode made me laugh so hard.

Buffy: Xander, you ate the burger?!
Xander: Well, first you say it's cat and then come in, hand me a burger. Blah, blah, blah. Five minutes later, "Oh, by the way, it might be hot delicious human flesh!

I love when that coworker gave that whole speech about grease and then asked "Do you want to see inside my ears?"

I liked when Dawn asked if Buffy was fighting demons and that is why she stinks and Buffy starts to say she doesn't stink but then sniffs her hair and does a little rant. It's the tofu and cooking animals smell.

I was glad that for this eppie at least Dawn realized how hard Buffy has it and how lucky Dawn has it.

I loved when Buffy was cracking jokes with that coworker and he laughs and then says "stop that".

I didn't like this episode at first, but watching it again just recently out of blue, I grew to like it! I wonder if any fast food joint is like that around any country! LOL The old lady was just creepy lol.

They should also have a slogan. "Work with us and you'll be murdered. It's a fact but a fun place to work!" lol

I liked that episode.. well only half. Spuffy sex, oh I think I'm going to puke only by thinking of it. But it was funny, it had it's good moments 🙂 But Buffy, God, I felt so bad for her, that uniforms were really but ugly.

I'm not sure whether I liked this episode much or not. It was cool and I liked the Spuffy moment 😉 But, the episode was kinda creepy...

Doublemeat Palace isn't the greatest episode of season six...It makes me feel a little bit sick, especially the scene talking about the way the burgers are blended. Ew. I suppose it's pretty funny, and it's not the worst episode of Buffy (Does Buffy have any bad episodes?), but very few scenes in it keep me interested. I have to say I was surprised to see that 'Wig Lady' was killing the workers, I was convinced it was Manny the Manger, and the scene with Anya/Xander/Hallie is just amazing. I love the friendship between Anya and Halfrek. The Doublemeat Palace itself is weird, but the episode is alright.

Not the best but certainly not the worst, I found funny Buffy working in a job where everyone had the brains of an early Xander (when we first met him). I have never worked in a fast food place and after watching this episode it would not encourage me to do so. Certainly one way of putting people of burgers!
