the Angel/Cordy scenes were great, along with seeing the scope of Wesley's newfound isolation. Even liked Groo more in this episode.

Is there ANY grey matter between Gunn's ears?

Everytime he appears on camera now, I'll want to BANG the top of my tv very hard. Hoping it will knock him down.

God, I miss Wes being part of Team Angel.

DOUBLE OR NOTHING

The Good;
The Groo and CC back which is marvellous. Lovely little scene with CC and Angel and also a lovely little scene of Pylean kinship between Lorne and the Groo over the 'ritual of the bereaved'. Wonderful final confrontation too, watched this ep first at a convention and people cheered when Angel delivers his line

The Bad;
The angry young man Gunn stuff is not so good. The cockney demon debt collector is deeply stupid, Guy Ritchie has a lot to answer for. When he first sees Caritas Gunn comments he's never seen anything like it but we find here he has (unless he's never seen karoke before?). Angel could smell that Wes has had sex with a bleached blonde back in season 2 but is unaware that Gunn and Fred have been doing the funky monkey all this time?

Best line:
Angel; "Am I the only one who owes this guy money?"

Jeez, how did they get away with that?
CC staking the guy's hand to the table. Gunn being so mean when breaking up with Fred is also hard to watch as is the guy getting his soul removed by Jenoff. Jenoff's death is not half as yucky as his 'rebirth'.

Questions and observations;
Blonde Cordy! Angel seems unaware that Fred and Gunn were dating, I thought he overheard them in 'Waiting in the Wings' or at least smelled them on one another. No leprechauns in the Angelverse although considering how they appeared on Charmed maybe we should be grateful. Wes coming home to an empty flat is a real killer. Angel refers to the AI gang as family.

To me, the only redeeming features of this ep is the Cordy and Angel scenes. Gunn...gets away with it. There little in this episode other than demonstrating how much he is in love with Fred. Double or Nothing? Nothing!
 
ugh, right, I never did like blonde Cordy. she's so beautiful in her dark hair, ah well. The episode is entertaining but not a favorite of mine. Fred and Gunn are cute together as always.
 
Its actually in place. Just letting ya know Gunn grew up in a gangstas paradise. I dont see that as out of place. Its not tryin to imply Gunn himself was a gangsta!
 
Me and my sister both burst out laughing when Gangsta's Paradise started playing - brilliant moment. 😀 Anyway, I like this episode, the Cordy/Angel scenes were great and I love the they killed the demon ("Who here owes this guy money?" *mob*).
 
Gunn's explanation of selling his soul for a truck made perfect sense. Unfortunately people often seem to dismiss anything outright, tuning out or looking away whenever someone they don't like is on screen.

He was nothing more than a street kid trying to protect his friends from vampires and he needed that truck to do it. What's a soul worth when you're only living to help your friends survive not being murdered by demons?

So Gunn isn't remotely as stupid as people seem to take delight in saying he is. He was doing what he needed to do to protect his friends and if it cost him his soul - his life, at least that so-called worthless truck would've been there for his friends to use, and they did since it was featured in "War Zone" armed with large wooden stakes and an arrow launcher. Nearly killed Angel with it.

I said in the thread on Lullaby that I think some of Darla's comments encompass a woman's thoughts/feelings who is struggling with infertility/miscarriage/stillbirth. In this episode, Angel's reactions to losing Connor really capture a parent's experience with infant death: the depression, staring at the empty crib, and finally disassembling the crib. It was heartbreaking.

I always thought the choice of tune was meant to be rather tongue-in-cheek actually and it never really bothered me. It makes me smile but then yeah, I think it's intended for you to do that.
