Doyle. I always thought Doyle and Angel were great as a team not to mention they were hilarious.

Although I enjoyed Wes later on.
 
I'll be honest on first viewing Doyle didn't do much for me BUT Wesley was so good.

Over time I have come to understand and respect Doyle but still Wesle wns hands down, for me.

Yes I thought Doyle was a bit 2 dimensional - he drinks, he fancies Cordelia, he has visions...
I was never a Wesley fan when he was Buffy and of course when he was brought in after the death of a character I loved (Faith likes her Irish men) it set me off against him even more. I did shed a tear when he died as the Fred/Illyria part was done so well and I have slightly warmed to him over the years but Doyle is still my fave.
 
Wesley. I really liked Doyle and wish he was kept on, but we got to explore Wes more and he turned out to be one of the buffyverses best ever characters. I think id prefer Doyle though if he had a couple of seasons instead of just 9 episodes. But i definetly liked Wes better between Buffy s3 and Angel s2, when he was dorky funny Wes, imo his character was ruined after season 3 of Angel.
 
I liked Wesley the best, especially at the beginning when he was at his most "proper former Watcher/rogue demon hunter" persona.
 
Wes is so much better, not that I didn't like Doyle but I love Wes and his dashing good looks and Fancy dance moves hehe x

Not to mention the going on and ON about how he didn't make that sweater!
It's always Wesley. He's just so much fun. Especially in the early years when he was more or less a pratt but thought he ruled, lol.

I thought the Doyle character was amazing. And I was so looking forward to him coming back and interacting with Wesley. An Irishman and a Brit, the dialogue would have been just amazing. Unfortunately the actor Adrian Quinn died of a drug overdose. So sad. As a pround mick I vote for Doyle.

Nevertheless, Wesley grew on me and by the end of the series was one of my all time favorite characters.

Still haven't figured him out in the comic though.

I was NEVER a Wesley fan. I LOVED Doyle. I thought he was far more interesting and would have been better in the long term without a doubt.
 
I loved Wesley!! Even is S3 when he was a pratt. he was so funny. Esp in "earshot"

And then he fell over alot 😀

and then he got all (and I'm quoting my mother here) "hunkified"

But...oh, how I hate the turtle necks of S5

Well not really.

Angel was 'born' in Ireland, thus Irish.
Granted DB did a terrible job BUT so what.
Alexis Denisof wasn't British either, though he did a better job than DB, the only person in this little trio that is what they are portrayed - Doyle as an Irishman.
