Doyle died to save a large number of demons from being killed by the Scourage. He felt it was his time to do something and was destroyed by a light that would kill all those that had humanity in them.

I have to say that Doyle was my fave. He was so honest about not wanting to fight that it was funny!🙂 I hate that he was killed off, but at least he died a hero. ::angel::
 
I loved Doyle! I bawled my eyes out when he died. (OK, that's proclaiming how much of a geek I am!)
I actually can't see myself crying over Wesley's death.
OK, maybe that's just a leetle too cold.
 
I loved Doyle too...but I like Wesley better. Probably it's becasue he's had more time on the show.

How sad...I'm the only one who voted for him 🙁
 
I eventually decided that Wesley was the better of the two. Don't get me wrong though, Doyle definitely has his time and place and i still very much miss him, it's just on the grand scale of things Wesley has become a far more distinct and admired character with his new found place in the show. I mean it's actually quite hard to really compare the two with such different personalities. Sure, back in Angel's early days it would've gone to Doyle and likewise with Wesley towards the latter, however taking both characteristic's when your talking about their peaks though, i think i'd marginally have to go with Wesley as aforementioned.
 
I voted Doyle, I have nothing against Wes. But Doyle will always have a place in my heart, he was just a great character and then they killed him off in such a heroic way.
 
I voted for Wesley - purely for the amazing changes his character has gone through - in Buffy he was an obnoxious idiot.
In Angel (and the later part of Buffy) he was/is much more relaxed.I have nothing against Doyle I just preferred Wesley.
 
I voted for both of them.
I totally loved Doyle. He was like the best. He still rocks in my eyes. If you would have asked me at the beginning of S2, I would have told you Wesley was a lil goody good and I hate him but he grew on me lol. They are both really cool. I mean, common! How can ya make a girl choose between a cute irish guy or a cute english guy?! lol.

Seeing this is in Angel Season 1 forum, I'm going to go with who was best in that given season...and that's Doyle.

If you asked me Doyle vs. Season 3 Wesley though, I'd have a much harder time.
 
Both. I would have liked to have seen Doyle be expanded more, especially the C/D 'ship, but even though I wasn't really a fan of Wesley on Buffy, I'm really starting to love him on Angel. He's getting really fleshed out and I think that's always good for a character.
 
i like them both. if you would have asked me during S1, i would have said i hated wesley, but now.....now, hes grown on me a ton 🙂 i really cant choose, lol. they are/were great characters and always will be, dead or alive.

Doyle with his love for Cordy,the visions and the frienship with Angel because they understood each other so good because both have a past.

Wesley with all his knowledge about demons and always trying to help.he's funny besides now that Fred is here and think he deserves to be with a nice girl like her]

It's a shame Fred put her eyes in Gunn

go Alexia ! i totally agree with you! they are both great and i love them and its pratically impossible to choose.

they're not really comparable as doyle's character was never developed the way wesley's has.doyle only became really interesting once he decided to take some responsibilty for his lif.which led to his sacrifice.i'm sure the writers use story arcs intended for doyle for wesley
 
i voted for both i miss doyle i cryed when he died he was cute and cordy was just starting to come around i thought they were gonna be a couple but at least he left her the visions so her role on the show became more intresting and at first i didnt like wesley to much now hes just part of the gang he can look sexy at times and you got to love that brain
 
I voted Doyle! You will never know how much i cried my eyes out when he sacraficed himself for those other demons! He is a true hero! I have never really liked Wesley, he is kinda a cheap immitaion of Giles... sorry Wes fans!
