Dr Who to return.

that is great news, it was such a good show, every saturday afternoon on pbs at 3pm was Dr. Who, I was really young when I saw it but I always enjoyed it.
 
Morgus - I salute you. American and a Dr Who fan - you truly are a top fanboy (and I don't mean that in a derogatory sense)

PBS is a great institution - I remember seeing Dr Who there (an old Tom Baker) on one of my visits to the States - how does it work? Is it funded by public donation, as "The Simpsons" would have us believe or do the BBC have a controlling interest? 🙂

Oh, man. PBS. Don't even get me started on their evil pledge drives! PBS is funded mostly by nagging.

They play half of an absolutely amazing show, then they hold the second half of the program hostage until enough people call in and pledge money. Drives me ape****.

They do have some cool shows though. I'm very interested to see a new Dr. Who.

Excellent (in my best Mr Burns voice) - never mind ratings, that's how you judge the real popularity of a show 🙂 - not the driving you ape btw Dolphin😉
 
You could still get the old Doctor as recently as last year on BBC Kids.

For me Tom Baker was THE Doctor the way SMG is THE Buffy for most Buffy fans.

Interesting question: Who should play The Doctor?

My choice: Anthony Steward Head.
 
Bookies' favourite to be the new Doctor is apparently actor/comedian Alan Davies (who has worked with the writer Russell T Davies before - I don't think they're related). Tony Head has been linked with the part previously but my choice would be Bill Nighy or Richard E Grant.

Dr Who - Brit sci-fi prog on the BBC from 60's to 80's featuring The Doctor, a timelord. Low production budgets and dodgy effects but brilliant stories and a series of excellent actors as The Doctor (Douglas Adams got his BBC break on this show as Story Editor I believe). Try looking at the Dr Who pages on the BBC site.

Full on, Faldor. The article I saw earlier today on Yahoo! said that the series is still two years out. I'm stoked for a new Dr. Who, but it seems a bit early to be starting up the hype machine. My God, have we learned NOTHING about overhyping remakes from Godzilla? 🙂

Allycay - ASH had a cameo in one of the web cartoons playing another time lord called valentine. but he didnt have alot to do. i beleave he said in an old interveiw he wouldnt want to play Dr Who because he's already done the iconic role thing once with Giles but i can't remember word for word 🙂

oh and that was when it was highly unlikely to ever return!

personally i dont know if ASH would be the best 10th Doctor (im assuming their not going to use Richard E Grants 9th Doctor from the november web cartoon) or alan davies, i was 30 years older (ie 38 not 18) i'd choose me 🙂

when it comes to roles like the doctor i prefere unknowns then that bloke off whatever,

lets hope they dont keep the the Withnail and I theme going and cast Richard Griffiths! (uncle monty) although Ralf Brown could of worked if he still had his withnail/waynes world II look 🙂
