Mugging? Is that a strange english word 😉

'tis an actor's term luvvie (ooh, get him being all showbiz 😉)...here's the definition from an online dictionary whose name I forgot to note -

MUGGING - Broad facial gestures designed to entertain the audience at the expense of genuinely playing your part

...as opposed to the other robbery with violence type of mugging 🙂

Having said that, Chris is generally not known for doing that but I thought there were a couple of scenes where he went a bit OTT in the face-pulling.

Your making a habit of confusing me! I'm more used to the second type of mugging, not personally of course. I get what you mean with the faces, will look at it more when I watch the repeat tonight. I just figured from what I had seen before of the Doctor things were meant to be a bit OTT. But perhaps i'm slightly biased because I just love his grin, its part psycho part cute. But not as psycho as he was in Shallow Grave.

Did you watch the second Confidential Installment?

Just had a pleasant surprise while browsing Play.com. Due for dvd release on the 16/5 is the first 3 episodes the series, and on the 13/6 the next 3 episodes both at £11.99

I've never seen a show go to dvd so quickly, but with 13 episodes to the series you would think they would have more than 3 episodes to the disc!

I had it on while Mrs P was pottering around in the kitchen but I'm afraid to say I was dozing through most of it...pass me the pipe, slippers and comfy cardigan... 🙂

I thought you always had those on you 😉 Sorry hon you walked right into that!

Really? I thought it was quite a good episode, with the underlying themes. But one thing confused me. Cassandra the last remaining human talks about all her 'husbands' and she wears lipstick and has a female voice. Yet when she was talking to Rose she was saying she was a boy.

Russell T Davis wrote "Queer as folk"...I thought it was some sort of gay in-joke...😉

It was a good ep, don't get me wrong...just an old fanboy nit-picker at heart 🙂

I watched it again and Cassandra definatly said she was born a boy. I didn't know he wrote that, I guess that kinda makes sense then.

Nothing wrong with nit picking, its generally what keeps discussions going. Thats why i'm glad your here because as I said in the start this my first Dr Who series, whereas you've seen more than me so can pass on your wisdom 😉

Wisdom...hmm...yes...if by that you mean hugely subjective and biased ranting😉 🙂
Yea, you can't beat a bit of nit-picking - as long as it doesn't get obsessive...then it's just sad 🙂

We get Doctor Who, 1st episode starting tomorrow, then you guys are in trouble. Then some major nits are gonna get picked. 😀

As far as i'm concerned, I like it and while i'll listen to what others have to say and respect it, its not going to change my point of view. And thats not directed at you N4H (you just happen to be the person that posted before me), or anyone here, just thought i'd add that last bit in incase people thought it was directed at them 🙂

Not to worry anyway. I was just joking.

In truth I'm a bit of a Doctor Who geek. We had the complete old series running daily on our local Sci Fi station here a few years ago and I loved it. This new one is going to have to be pretty bad before I'll give it a dis. From all the raves I've been hearing about it, I don't think that's going to happen.

I will be sitting in front of my TV tomorrow with a bowl of popcorn, and a tape in the VCR though. Trust me. 🙂

The actress Billie Piper, who is playing Rose Tyler, looks very familiar. Did she used to be a singer?

lol never imagined that she would have been known over your way!

Another week another episode, and another good one. It was kinda obvious that they were not up to any good. And the preview of next weeks episode, nice effects! Can't wait.

#Is it just me or did the girl with the sight in tonights episode remind anyone of drusilla from buffy/angel

Yes Sir...and no problem BTW. Finally saw it. Love, love, loved it.

The return of the sonic screwdriver. Yayyyyy!!!

I wanna see the Brits go into space so they can name their first ship The Tardis, like the Yanks did with the Enterprise shuttle.

In one episode Rose Tyler jumps up to the top of my own personal favourite Doctor Who companions list (Was K-9 considered a companion BTW)

I only saw one thing coming. I knew the garbage can was going to burp.

Sweet!!!

I thought Rose was good in last weeks episode, she had a lot to take in and handled it well.

I actually meant (in my red wine induced haze🙂) to add that Rose just keeps getting better and better...I wasn't sure about Billie to start off with but I'm very impressed now...seems her marriage to the Ginger Whinger may have killed her pop career but it did a power of good to her acting 😉

I love the way she peppers the Doctor with questions, and rushes after him with a bit poop-eating grin on her face, then she's all, everywhere looking for clues.

She's so enthusiastic, and she kind of goes against type for the young, heroine character. She's almost a mother type, the way she takes on responsibility for others, with a kid's enthusiasm counter-balancing it. The current popular heroine type can be a little narcissistic.

Plus there's the shape of her. She got that momsy, rubenesque, shape, as opposed to the annorexic, girl model type that's generally hired. I like it.
