Why are all these awesome conventions in the US? I hate being English.
As I said in the chat, it's a very good possibility that I'm going to go... and dress up like this:

I have a friend who is definitely going (one I'm trying to get on here, actually), and my dad wants to go and he says if he does I can come. So yeah. Ima have to see, but it looks good.
 
I'd love to go! My friends were talking about trying to go... so maybe! I'll have a more definite answer as we get closer to September.
 
Oh dragon con, you and I have a love/hate relationship.....


A some of you know, I work for hotels, have done so for quite a few years. Got a call before from a guy who was charged an extra $500 and couldn't figure out why; it's cause his roomie wrote "dragon con" among some other, non-family friendly phrases all over the walls IN GLOW IN THE DARK PAINT. Hilarious; yes. But also strange for the next guests who checked in, turned out the lights to go to sleep, and saw this. He was not happy he was charged for new wallpaper and labor to fix his friends good time.

Moral of the story: if you damage the room, expect to be charged.

Every year I determine that I am going to go and so far, I've only managed to make it once (Christopher Lambert was there plugging, I think, "The Hunted" and chain smoking, despite the "No Smoking" signs all over the place) Unfortunately, the Blade Show is every second week in June, and all of my convention money always seems to come home with me in the form of Bnew knives. This year I think that I'm gonna see if I can find a good jambaiya (that, for those of you who might not know, is the Persian dagger used by the minions of the First Evil)

That one's junk. A really good one might run to several hundred dollars.

There is hope this year, though, since it's on my birthday. Maybe I can use the excuse that my granddaughter wants to see the Smurfs.

It's going to be on your birthday?!? EXCITEMENT!
Well since it is only about 45 minutes away, I'm seriously considering going. I have some friends coming up from FL who are going and it'd be nice to see them!

If we figure out who is definitely going to be there, closer to the event, maybe we could do a mini meet up of sorts? So many who want to come, and and a couple of us are really close... that makes me crazy excited.

Question for anyone who's been to a con... how exactly do the 4 days work? I've never been to a convention so I really have no idea. Do you get some kind of a list of the panels and stuff going on and just pick and choose from the list?
 
So I was randomly chatting with my mom today and I mentioned DragonCon. She also happens to be a Buffy fan and she wants to go, which is fine by me because that cuts the cost of the trip in half for me. After lots of searching I found a really cheap motel (I don't plan on spending much time there so I don't care if it sucks) and I reserved Sept 1st through Sept 5th.

So yeah, I'm going for sure. Room is booked and I'm buying the memberships Tuesday or Wednesday. (I'm trying to decide whether to spring for the guest of honor banquet thing or not) 😀 😀 😀

My dad pretty much just officially confirmed it, so I'm happy. Only thing is now my brothers want to go (whoever told Tay that William Shatner was going to be there, I will HUNT YOU DOWN) and he doesn't wanna take them, so there's that jealousy.

But oh well. I'm super-psyched. 🙂
 
Me too!!! I'm excited!! Ima get to stay with my bestie, Tabby, if I do go, which I'm pretty sure I will 😀

And, as usual, something else came up, so I can't go. All of y'all who go, take copious notes and hundreds of pictures and post them here so us less fortunates can at least enjoy a little vicarious fun.

And eat a chilidog at the Varsity for me. No onions, heavy mustard.
 
I just took a look at the pocket program guide and of course, some of the main events I wanted to see are at the same time. Grrr! I expected this of course, but it's still frustrating.
