Little Ms. Muffet counting down from 7-3-0

Am I correct in assuming that we all think that Ms. Muffet refers to Dawn and 7-3-0 to The Gift, when Buffy dies? Has this been confirmed by Joss or any of the writers? Seems pretty obvious to me now, but I wouldn't have known what the heck it meant the first time I watched it.

Yes you are correct. It was clearly confirmed that it was referring to Dawn once we got to Restless. As for the 7-3-0 thing, it has been proven to be true on the show, and also been said couple times by members of the writing team 🙂

That's what I thought. Yes, I knew about the reference to Dawn in Restless, & another Faith reference to Dawn in This Year's Girl.

To me this totally rebutts any debate about Joss adding Dawn simply to attract a younger audience (as seen in lots of TV shows). Now maybe he made her a teenager rather than younger (I read that she was originally supposed to be younger), but this was not a thrown-together storyline, it was obviously in the planning over 2 yrs prior! Simply confirms Joss' brilliance to me. 🙂

Yea he has the reputation of planning lots of things ahead 🙂 Also there's so many random rumors like that... Seriously, who come up with all of these?

Did Joss make Dawn older just so Michelle Trachtenburg could adopt the role?

That's what I heard. I think I read it or someone said it in an interview. But the part was originally written to be like 10ish but Joss liked Michelle and cast her. Which makes sense why Dawn is so immature in season 5.

Ya it was confirmed that Dawn was suppose to be younger but he just loved Michelle that he changed the age. And he also had already planned Joyces death back in Season4.

yeah he was referring to Dawn and the gift, also shouldn't this thread be in season rather than season two as the title clearly says " Dream sequence in Graduation Day part 2"

Oops, you're right, I messed that up. I'm surprised a mod hasn't noticed yet. They'll move it when they see it.

I'm amazed you figured those 2 out. I figured it out only after people who figured it out before me mentioned it. Took a while.

Yhea. And in This Years Girl, in Faith's dream she is making the bed with Buffy and they talk about how Buffy has a little sister coming. Later, in Restless Buffy sees the it and says that she and Faith had just made it. I think the reason it was put in Faith's episode is because while Faith is her sister slayer who at that time wanted to kill her. Faith is downside to family and then there is Dawn who Buffy is willing to die for, the good side of family. The clock on her nightstand reads 7:30 and Tara says that clocks all wrong (one year down.) When Buffy leaves to find her friends, Tara says: "Be back before Dawn"

Hehe. Joss is a freaking genius isn't he?

Yes, he is!
Can someone explain the 7-3-0 thing to me, in the simplest way possible? I'm a little slow.

There are 365 days in a year. Two years equals 730 days. Counting down to 730 was foreshadowing to the countdown to Buffy's death in The Gift.

Haha, how embarrassing, that's possibly the simplest thing ever. Thanks for clearing it up!

OMG! I`ve been so dying to talk about this to someone for years now!! So glad that other people have noticed this as well. I was starting to think I`d over-analyzed Restless! lol!

What bothers me is WHY this is never discussed or talked about in the show. The whole mind thinking/dreaming between Buffy and Faith. Did they just forget about it when Faith returned in season 7 or did they want this to be a mysterious unsolved thing?

You're right- it's never discussed outside of this exchange:
Giles: "Um, Buffy, all of this is rather depended on your being able to control the Mayor."
Buffy: "Faith told me to play on his human weakness."
Willow: "Faith told you? Was that before or after you put her into a coma?"
Buffy: "After."

And Fenrick- go to the season 4 board & check out the Restless threads. One of my favorite episodes!

Too me the whole Grad day thing was lil too Nostradamus-y if you get me.

Restless was the last episode of the season before 5.

To be honest I have never understood the big deal with this "foreshadowing."
