Buffy tells Kendra that emotions drive her and make her into a bette fighter. Do you agree that Buffy is driven by her emotions? Do you think she thinks too much from her heart, and not enough from her head, and do you think it hurts her sometimes? Do you think a Slayer should have this many emotions?

Yes, I think it makes her stronger. It is implied that Buffy is a better slayer than previous ones (particularly in Restless) and her support system and human attachments seem to be what sets her apart. None of the other slayers seem to survive quite as much (although a slayer in her thirties is mentioned in "Puppet Show" and Nikki Wood seemed to survive a lot. I just don't think that other slayers survived quite as many apocalypses as Buffy has but I'm just guessing.

I think that she definitely is - she has people in this world that she loves, and so every battle is, essentially, about saving all of them.

That is exactly it. And Buffy says as much in S8. She doesn't fight for the world or her calling, or even for herself, she fights for her friends and the people she loves.

Not only that, Slayers have been shown to lose their humanity a bit. I think it is almost a survival thing for them but the irony of it all is that in keeping a firm grip on what makes her human, what makes her a woman, a friend, lover, daughter, sister, and not a slayer, is what keeps Buffy alive. If she didn't have it, I think she would have died, and stayed dead a long time ago.

Yes, you could say that Buffy is driven by her emotions, but I think that in saying that, we may be limiting her actual abilities. Buffy is driven by, and has great faith in, her instincts and gut feelings, which go a bit deeper than simple emotions. She trusted and believed in both Angel and Spike at times when she would have had every reason to stake them, love or no love, and I fully believe that she would have done exactly that if her gut reaction wasn't to believe, encourage, ahve faith in, and even physically protect them. That goes beyond simple emotion, and is, I believe, what makes Buffy the true Chosen One, and not just another Slayer.

Yes, I think her emotions make her stronger. Emotions are good, especially when we keep fighting for them.. or against them. They give us power. Buffy is the kind of girl who has to fight, no matter what.. but when she fights with her emotions, the cause is better, it's bigger, it's larger.

Yes, I'd have to agree that Buffy is driven by her emotions, and it is a huge theme in the show all throughout (but especially in the earlier seasons.) It is both an advantage to her and a disadvantage, but in the long run it turns out to be much more of an advantage. Fighting for people you are emotionally attached to makes you that much more motivated and stronger. Slayers that isolate themselves from emotion do not last as long because they do not have people helping them in their important battles.

Totally agree. In certain situations, Buffy is blinded by her emotions. Her emotions can sometimes keep her from thinking clearly and realizing certain situations are traps until it's too late, but most of the time Buffy's emotions drive her and only work to her advantage.

Her emotions definitely make her stronger. She has things worth fighting for, most slayers, being alone and all, probably don't feel like they do. But, Buffy is such a genuine, loving person it helps her a crap load. When she loves, she loves hard (try not to make this dirty). Her emotion is what got her so far.
