I just watched Earshot and realized something...

When Buffy tries to read Angel's mind, he tells her that vampires' minds can't be read because they don't cast a reflection in her. If that's the case, why is Drusilla able to hear (or at least sense) what Angel and Spike are thinking? Is it just another one of those wacky continuity errors, or is Drusilla's power different somehow?
 
I think I read somewhere that the demons' power only extended to those of their own race. Therefore, Buffy could only hear humans' thoughts, not demons or vampires. I didn't see anything in the episode that contradicted that, and it would explain why the demons didn't seem to be able to read Buffy's mind (and hence lost).

That does make sense, but Dru doesn't seem to have any problem hearing what other types of demons are thinking (such as when she was going on about how Acathla "filled her head.") Still, I don't remember them ever saying anything about her reading a human, so maybe it's just demons in general.
 
Well, I would assume that Dru's power is much different from the Scabby Demons' power. After all, she had it when she was human, as well.
 
Well actually does Dru ever read Spike or Angel's mind? Dru is a precog which means she can see into the future. I can't recall Dru actually reading their minds although I could be wrong.

In the case of Spike, she could foretell that Spike was to love the Slayer. That wouldn't require her to read his mind, simply have a vision of it becoming common knowledge.

Ah, I was thinking of her reading Spike. You're probably right.
i always thought dru was special before she became a vamp i.e father i've come to confess i've been seeing things again . which is why angel sired her.

i don't no thats my theory any way

Oh yeah she was. Her powers when she was human are clearly seen in Becoming. I was only attempting to explain how she her powers in relation to Spike and Angel.
 
The powers Dru had were visions, hypnotizing, and whatever it was she done to Giles in becoming, she couldnt read Spike or Angels mind though.
 
Was it ever implied at all that Dru can read their minds? dont see why she would be able to.
 
Now that i think about it, if Dru wasnt insane she could have become the main vampire and very powerful. its not like Spike and Angel had that kind power
 
I think in a lot of ways she was in charge, in some ways the glue that held the group together. It was the only reason Angel and Spike stuck together.
