More evidence emerges this morning that Eliza Dushku will not play Faith the vampire slayer (at least on a regular basis) in any "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spinoff.
Variety reports that Dushku will play the lead in an another potential series, an untitled Fox network pilot from Jon Feldman ("American Dreams") and Rob Cohen ("The Fast and the Furious") about a grad student who discovers she can save lives by altering the course of events.
Though the pilot may not necessarily go to series, Dushku's commitment to it likely does prohibit the "Buffy" braintrust from building a series around Buffy's darker counterpart.
Dushku has signed to guest star this year in three upcoming episodes of "Buffy" spinoff "Angel" and the final five episodes of "Buffy" itself. "Buffy" now looks to end its seven-season run on May 20.
A few reports, including one from Britain's BBC News picked up an erroneous item in the London Express indicating that a Faith series was already a done deal.
So what will producers pitch as a new Buffiverse series? Something, likely, with potential.

how can you say that.....there hasn't even been any info released on it....the only info on it (and in the thread here about it) was specualtion by the guy who runs spoilerslayer.com....so for you to judge a show off of what he says, and what others here think, as opposed to an actual ME member seems kind of stupid to me.....you are forming an opinion on a show that there is absolutely no info for......so how does a show with no info released on it look "hellla wak....and gay...and horrible..."

Ok, I don't know this variety, and there have been too much articles saying too many different things, to actual belief any of them, the only one I'm going with is SpoilerSlayer!

ok....well he just posted the same thing....

From Spoilerslayer.com:
It appears that any possibility of a Faith spin-off is looking very doubtful at this point.
It was reported today that Eliza has signed on for another Fox pilot. Variety is reporting this, as well as other outlets. Herc has nice recap up at AintItCoolNews.com.

That's why I'm saying now, that it might indeed be over with, but if you've been reading spoilerslayer for a long time, you must have noticed the increased contradictions between articles he's posting ... he is probably as uncertain as us!

Variety is very well-known, and they're pretty much always right about this stuff. As upsetting as it is that a Faith series seems as though it isn't happening, as least Eliza will be on something else; that makes it worth watching. The storyline is bordering on stupid because of Soulgasm's accurate freshness factor, but I'm hoping the acting makes up for it.

I will be disappointed if there is no more Faith but everything I've heard about the the Fox show sounds great. I'm looking forward to both now. 😉
